Close and far, close then far
In only the span of a day
But your smile is best compared to the sun
Lighting up the world
Bringing joy to those who are in its presence
The weight of this secret is like a hundred rocks
On my shoulder, waiting to topple
Waiting for me to spill my feelings like water
As I lean into your arm
feeling the warmth of your lips on my forehead
I think of how easy it is
I think of how easy it is to love you
How easily I let you in
And I laugh to myself for my stupidity
I kiss your lips
I hold you close to me
And I am happy
We tease and we laugh
I pull away from your embrace and run
But you aren't mine
You aren't mine when you catch me
You aren't mine when I laugh until it hurts
You aren't mine when you kiss me and smile
You aren't mine when you watch me dance
You aren't mine when you pretend you hate it
You aren't mine when I laugh and make you join
You aren't mine when we hold hands on the swings
You aren't mine when you pull my body closer
You aren't mine when we kiss in the dark
And it's a bit sad, I admit
But it's too perfect to change
Because you aren't mine and I'm not yours
