The next day.
"Hurry up will ya!" Michael shouts from downstairs, "Shauna is here already."
Michael was my brother, older than me by 4 years. He was like a father to me, my real dad was always gone on business trips, and my mother died from a heart attack. Michael was all I had left now.
"Be down in a minute!" I call down.
I slip into my jeans, and tuck a red long sleeve off the shoulder top into them, I put on a pair of black flats, I couldn't be bothered with heels today. My hair it thrown up into a high ponytail. When im finished I run down the stairs.
"Bye Michael!" I shout locking the door as I leave.
Shauna leans on the outside her car smoking. It was wierd to see girls like us smoking, we weren't Greasers but we weren't Socs either, we had friends from both and they are polar opposites. People would often mistake us for Socs, but thats just because of the way we dress.
"Hey finally you're ready. What happend with that Greaser yesterday? He didn't try anything did he?" Shauna says as I approach the car.
I hush her looking over my shoulder to male sure Michael wasn't there.
She rolls her eyes with a grin and walks around to the drivers side of the car.
"Nothing happened." I say settling into the passenger seat.
"Good." She puts out her cigarette and tosses it out the window.
I explain to her what happened, and shes silent the whole time.
"You gave him your number?" She asked dramatically as we pull into the schools parking lot.
"Yeah so big deal, he was cute." I shrug.
"But he's a greaser."
I flinch at the word, I never really liked the labels, Greaser or Soc. Why couldn't we all just get along.
She notices.
"Look I'm sorry I just don't want to see you get hurt." She says calmly.
"Thanks mom." I answer laughing.
" I'm being serious if he trys anything with you send him my way I'll set him straight." She cracks her knuckles.
And I can't help but laugh, Shauna was a little shorter than I was, and didn't look tough at all.
"Shut it." She snaps "I can handle him."
Which makes me laugh even harder now.
She rolls her eyes and giggles too.
"Lets go we dont want to be late."
