chapter 26

I lightly bounce my foot against the white polished tile of the Dingo. Colorful conversations cascade against the four walls. The place was busy tonight.

Shauna steps inside and scopes the diner looking for me, she only notices me sitting at our usual booth when I raise my hand. She smiles brightly and bounds over.

"Boy, have I missed you." She giggles sliding into the seat across from me.

"I've missed you too." I smile softly.

"Is everything okay?" She fluffs her blond curly hair.

"Oh, yeah I'm fine." I wave her off.

"Y/n. I've known you for years. You can't lie to me that easily." She folds her hands together and places them nicely on her lap.

"Fine." I give in and her smile widens.

"This is for real. You can't tell a soul." I say seriously. She pretends to zip her lips shut but prods me on with her eyes. "I'm pregnant."

Her eyes go wide and her jaw hits the ground.

"Y- you're p- pregnant?" I try to smile but find myself completely drained of energy.

"Surprise."

"Holy shit." Is all ahe can sputter out.

"Yeah." I run my hands through my hair.

"Holy shit." She repeats.

"I know, I know. I fucked up." I sigh a put my head down on my arms.

"You're damn right you did. " she said sounding exasperated. "Whos baby is it?"

I don't answer but only peek up at her.

"No. Don't tell me."

I smile awkwardly.

"Jesus Y/n. You're kidding me."

"I know." I lay my head back down.

"Does he know?"

"not exactly." I answer quietly.

"He doesn't even know?!"she exclaims. "the least you could do is say, hey I'm pregnant and its your kid."

"we aren't exactly on speaking terms." I cross my arms. 

"dose your family know?"

"one problem at a time please." 

She huffs frustrated.

"tell me about it." I grumble.

"what the hell do you expect me to do?"

"I needed to tell someone at least."

"well I'm not the one you should have told first." she tries to smile.

She wasn't wrong.
