Chapter 40

Grayson:
I was sitting in the warehouse waiting for my date to arrive. This was so stupid, what am I doing. I don't want to go on a date but Ethan talked me into it. He thought it would make me feel better but it just makes me miss waiting for Rain to show up for our dates. I missed her so much. Ashley is nothing like her. Ashley hates the beach because sand is "so totally gross" and fishies scare her.
I heard someone walk into the warehouse and I assumed it was Ashley but when I saw it Rain I stopped dead in my tracks. I just stared at her. I didn't know what to do or say.
"Grayson" she said my name so sweetly I almost melted. "I'm so sorry" she started crying. I didn't move. She doesn't love me.
"I had to say those things to you. I had to make Alex believe I actually wanted to be with him. I made a deal with the police to put him away for a long time. I had to go under cover to get him to confess to everything he did and apparently he did it to multiple girls like me. I had to stop him and leave you guys. I'm so sorry but I needed to do it" as she finished Ashley walked in.
"Umm hey." Ashley said.
"Hey can you give me a minute?" I asked.
"Sure but we are going to miss our date" she said.
"I'll go" Rain said and started walking out the door.
"Rain wait" I yelled chasing her outside. Of course it was pouring rain. She turned around and looked at me. I finally saw the emotions in her eyes and she looked alive.
"It's okay Grayson. You deserve to be happy" She said.
"Did you really mean you didn't love me" I asked.
"Of course I love you. I will always love you." She said. Fuck this. I grabbed her and kissed her hard. It felt so good and so right. She wrapped her legs around my waist and arms around my neck. I held her so tight like if I let go a little she would disappear.
"He's finally gone out of my life forever. He's going to jail for a really long time." She whispered.
"I will always protect you no matter what Rain" he said. I almost forgot about Ashley I hadn't seen her get in her car and leave.
"I will never leave you again I swear" she said repeatedly.
"You are my entire world." I said.
We ended up getting soaking wet because we stood there in the rain for hours running around being stupid.
After we finally went back inside the warehouse we talked for hours about everything she did the past couple weeks and where she was hiding out. She told me all about the house she bought and we decided to go on a mini vacation there soon so I could see it. We talked about what went down with Alex which only made me want to kill him more but most importantly she was safe and stronger then I've ever seen her before.
"It's like when I saw him getting taken away something inside just clicked. I will never not know what he's doing or where he is. I won't have to wonder if he is coming after me or if he will hurt me again. I finally feel free" she said sighing.
"Let's go celebrate" I said. "We can invite James and E. They will be so excited to see you."
"Shit" she said.
"What" I asked.
"I've got to talk to James he's probably seen the news by now" she started to get up.
"We can go together" I said grabbing her hand. She looked at our intertwined hands and smiled up at me.
"Together forever" she said kissing me.
Forever sounded like a plan.
