[For those who don't know, Sirenum is the island in Greek Myths where the Sirens live. They had rocky coasts so ships would get smashed when the sirens lured them towards them. Which, if you asked me, is a real bitch move]

STAR

I woke up in my bed with the biggest grin on my face ever.
Today I was going to save Marco.
A few days had sailed by and I didn't see Eclipsa. I didn't want to. I wanted to convince Marco I was okay. If I didn't he'd insist on coming with me to Jackie's and I didn't want to hurt him. I didn't want to see his heart break.
But I think I can do it. Marco was fine. I was fine.
Or at least, I will be.
Jackie and I were hanging out at noon which gave me 2 hours and 42 minutes to get rid of Marco's attachment to her.
What a day this is gonna be.
"Hello Fammille!" I cheer as soon as I hit the bottom of the stairs, bacon crackling and cereal is poured. I look out to see it's just Mr. and Mrs. Diaz. No Marco.
Ah shit.
"Hey where's Marco?" I ask as my socks move me towards the table silently.
Mrs. Diaz slams the milk carton on the table. "He snuck out last night to go to a party. A party, Raphael! I thought we raised him right! Oh he must be hungover in a bush somewhere! Or worse at a girls house! Or hungover in a bush with a girl!"
"Wait a party?" I begin to eat the cereal dry. Man, Life's good.
"I could him sneaking out. Didn't even try to stay quiet, does he think we sleep under a soundproof rock!?"
"Oh sweet don't worry." Rafael goes off as throws some bacon on two plates. I was too busy munching and thinking. A party I didn't hear about? Must've been Jackie. Maybe she was onto me. Oh no did she make Marco sleep with her!?! That'd be awkward. But besides that I need to find him. But I also need to keep my date with Jackie. I have a little over two hours. I can totally find some brown haired beauty and destroy a seductive sea bitch in that time. No problem. Absolutely none. I so got this.

There was a problem.
Marco. Was. Nowhere. I checked all over town, even asked Eclipsa for a spell but nothing could find him. He was just gone. Where could he be!?!?
But noon rang as I rang the bell of Sirenum. I pressed my head to the door and heard her feet pitter patter down the stair. It opens and there I was, wand hidden.
"Oh hey Star!" She pears our around me. Probably making sure we were alone. Smart move, ocean whore.
"Hey!" I smile. She grabs a sweater and we head out. She's wearing a blue dress that matches her hair and it's cute. She has floral vans and a grey flannel in her waste. Cute death clothes, I guess.
I wore shorts and a cute Pink Floyd T-shirt with my hair back. I want to make this easy for me. She shouldn't have worn a dress.
"Hey you didn't see Marco at a party last night did you?"
"There was a party?" She looks innocently at me.
Playing dumb. Smart.
"Yeah he didn't come back this morning. Maybe he stayed at some girls house or somethin." I note nonchalantly. Jackie chuckles a bites her lip a bit. Jealousy doesn't look good on a corpse, dear.
"Yeah I'm sure Marco of all people did that." She laughs as we make it to a wall that separated the beach from the rest of the world. The suns hot and high. It's nearly desolate. Perfect.
"What it's not like you actually know him." I jest.
"What?" Jackie raises an eyebrow as wind pulls through her short hair.
"What? You ignored him for years it's not like you actually know him."
"Dude seriously? I didn't ignore him I didn't know he wanted to be friends it's not like he ever talked to me."
"I wonder why."
"And you knew him for what? A couple of months before me?"
"Yeah but I lived with him so that factors in."
"Even so you lived in another dimension, I'd talked to him before-" she laughs, stretches out before snapping. "Doesn't even matter."
"Fine." I shrug.
Silence ensues as we watch the waves. We're both still fuming from that spat. How dare she say she knew him better or like at all! All she is is a siren who's about to die very soon-
"I mean at least I was here over the summer." She mumbles with a sigh.
"OKAY THAGS IT!" I grab her and throw her onto the pavement.
"STAR WHAT THE FU-" she hisses at a cut.
"Don't play dumb anymore, siren!"
"Siren?" She goes to get up and shoot her down with a small blast from my wand.
"Oh ho Ho Ho all summer you manipulated Marco and brainwashed him but NO MORE! I know your kind! And I will destroy you!"
"Yooo Star you need to chill." She begins to cower away. "You weren't here over the summer so I get why you think I manipulated him but dude I swear to god I'm not some siren Marco and I-"
"SHUT UP!" I scream. "YOUR LIES SWAY ME NOT!"
She goes to get up and I shoot her down again, my wand humming. The rays were smoky and grey and bruising her. She coughs up some blood and keeps pulling herself away.
I jump into their air as my wings allow me to hover a bit. Unevenly, I spin and aim at her like a sniper.
"STAR PLEASE STOP!" She screams as she struggles to her feet.
I close one eye and aim. "No more. You are gonna let him go. I'm going to save him. I'm going to save everyone."
I take a deep breath and more my arms, I can feel Eclipsa like a puppeteer reminding me what to do.
As soon as the siren reaches her feet and whisper "Na Serina Katastrepsoun."  A burst of black and purple but also baby blue and silver lurch out of my wand and smack into her. I can here her scream as I narrow my eyes and focus my magic. Her screams grow. She sounds like she's in pain. I want to stop but I can't. I feel the power course through me and man is it wonderful.
But soon I get tired and I land. The smoke begins to clear and I approach her. I expect to see a burn mark on the ground coughing the size of her heart

I don't see that.
