NOAH'S POV (this is the last pov of Noah... that's how close to the end we are.)

   "What?" I asked her.

Is she just telling me this, so I don't feel bad? But seeing the look on her face when he kissed her on the cheek said everything. She looked as if that was not what she wanted or expected.

"Carley, you better not be lying to me-" I started.

"Noah, when have I ever lied to you?"She asked.

"Well remember that one time-" I mocked.

"Don't even." She rolled her eyes, but you could still see the hint of a smile on her lips.

"Well. Are you going to treat me like a lost puppy or are you going to tell Liam how you feel?" I asked.

"I need to tell him, don't I?" She asked.

"Yes." I told her, seriously.

"I don't want to be mean." She whined.

"Now you sound like a true middle school girl." I told her.

She dramatically gasped and put her hand on her chest to exaggerate.  I rolled my eyes, but still kept a smile on my face.

"You know I technically am is middle school, right?" She asked.

"No I thought you were a five year old." I said in a monotone voice.

She playfully pushed my shoulder and grabbed her phone from her back pocket.

She typed in a number and then slowly brought it to her face.

"Hey, do you think you can turn around?" She asked.

CARLEY'S POV

"I get it." Liam said in a sad voice.

"I haven't even said anything yet." I told him.

"You don't need to." He said looking up in my eyes.

His piercing gaze making me feel sad in every bone in my body.

"Liam, it's just-" I started to say, but was interrupted.

"Listen, stop trying to get a point across. I can tell you like him. You liked him before 'us' anyway. I don't want to sit here in a one sided relationship." He said.

"I'm sorry. I really am." I said.

"Don't be. It's better you tell me now then later down the road." He said.

A unsettling silence passed as we sat on the steps to my house. Noah waiting patiently inside. Just not the patiently part.

"I'm sorry for kissing you. I could tell you didn't want that." He said, in a voice so small.

"It's okay, I understand your intentions." I told him.

"Friends?" He asked turning around toward me.

"Everything happens for a reason, friends." I told him.

We stood up and I gave him a hug. A good bye hug. It symbolizes the many hours of time we spent together and the long nights on the phone. It symbolized many things, but mainly two people departing each other.

I watched as he walked away. Never once did he turn back. It hurt to see him leave, but it was for the best.

Noah opened the door.

"Well... what should we do next?" I asked.
