After his initial annoyance, George had forgiven quickly, realising the tricky position the pair had been in and making the decision to put it behind them. Besides, the Second task was only a month or so away too, they had to utilise the time as much as possible to switch back, not fight amongst themselves. So far, they'd come up with some ideas of how to confront Ludo although given the last encounter, they had to be subtle, devious and use Truth serum (despite Aubrey and George complaining about the moral implications). The ideas they had come up with ranged from absurdly unrealistic to vaguely plausible if they had more than an hour, so nothing particularly promising.
Even though planning was requiring more work than expected Fred actually was really enjoying having his brother back, having missed him greatly. Rumours began flying due to how much time Fred or 'Aubrey' was spending with the twins, ranging from so cool they wished it were true to so incestuous they were really glad it wasn't.
Having George around was beneficial in many ways, especially now that he could help Aubrey with twin talk. Whilst in the Gryffindor dorms, the two had devised a system consisting of many hand movements which was boring and repetitive to Fred, although Aubrey seemed so enthralled, he was beginning to think she didn't know what fun was before meeting him.
Having a third person around had lifted everyone's mood, although Fred sometimes found his dipped whenever Aubrey blushed at George's words or tucked her hair behind her ears, before suddenly realising how she looked and making every effort to untuck it. Still, this was only occasional ... and Aubrey was heavily in the friendzone with George as he still seemed to think that Fred liked her as well as the slight problem that Aubrey was in the body of his twin brother.
Everything was going somewhat nicely for the trio, finally revealing the silver lining that Aubrey had talked about from the start. Of course, this couldn't last though and pretty soon the first big grey cloud appeared in the form of George's epiphany in Herbology.
Thanks to some clever outwitting, Fred and George had negotiated working in pairs, mainly because they'd talked so much, George had been distracted, leading to his plant succumbing to some incurable funghi. This suited them nicely and sometimes it was easy for Fred to forget that everything had changed.
"He's a Judge!" George didn't have epiphanies very often but when he did, he yelled it loud enough for everyone to hear.
Fred looked up from the plant they were tending, "What? The man-eating fly trap? George, have you been drinking Firewhisky with breakfast again?"
"No, I haven't."
"Really?" He smirked, "If your life is so bad a plant is judging you then I don't know if I believe you... hon."
George shook his head in exasperation, "No, not the plant, Ludo. You see what I'm saying?"
"Ludo's a plant?"
At this, George fought back a laugh due to the severity of the situation, "No, Ludo's a judge at the Second Task, he's in a little box at the top and everyone's watching him! We can't slip him veritaserum, what if he starts spouting the truth across the loudspeaker?"
"That won't be a problem..." Fred replied, his tongue sticking out slightly as he performed the delicate task of feeding the plant, "If we simply replace him with a double."
"And who will that double be?"
"Aubrey with a wig? Aubrey with polyjuice potion! Just Aubrey, nothing else!"
George rolled his eyes, "Of course, she's the first thing your mind goes to."
Fred narrowed his eyes slightly, "What's that supposed to mean?"
