Class was finally over.
I stuff my Apple MacBook into my backpack and follow students out the door.
I'm supposed to meet Adrian after class at the coffee shop on campus. He's going to tell me the plan to kill the Vampire King.
I don't like Adrain much. He's a vampire and honestly, I would much rather kill him. But my boss wants us to work together, so that's out the question.
Maybe I'll get to afterward.
I walk across campus and head towards Hot Cup.
When I walk inside, the smell of coffee, freshly baked goods, and cinnamon feels my nose.
I love it.
I glance around the small coffee shop until my eyes landed on him.
Adrain sat down at a table furthest away from everyone. He smiles at me and my breath caught.
He's gorgeous like most vampires. Stylish brown hair, perfect bone structure, and the nicest stormy blue eyes I've ever seen.
Adrain wore a form-fitting white t-shirt that showed off his toned body and jeans. In front of him was a white coffee cup. Everything looked very normal.
If I didn't know he was a vampire, I would mistake him for a human.
" Hey," he says once I take a seat across him.
" Hey," I say back.
" Do you want coffee? Maybe hot chocolate?" he asks.
" No," I answer.
Adrain leans back against his chair and studies me.
I already knew what he was seeing. My long blonde hair was in a low ponytail. A few strands fell into my face which I kept tucking behind my ears.
Once he was done looking at my face, his blue eyes took in my outfit.
Black t-shirt, black ripped jeans, and black converses.
Black was my favorite color.
Suddenly, his eyes landed on my own blue eyes. I looked away.
" So about this plan," I said, wanting to get straight to business. As hot as Adrain was, his presence made me uncomfortable. I wasn't used to talking to vampires. Only driving my stake into their cold hearts.
As if Adrain could sense my discomfort. He leans forward and asks, " do I make you uncomfortable?"
" Yes very much," I say without hesitation.
" No harm will come to you."
" I'm not afraid of you. If anything you should be afraid of me," I reply. All my senses were telling me to end him. I am a hunter after all. It's the way I'm programmed.
Adrain laughs like I just said the funniest thing. " I like you, Violet."
My patience starts to wear thin. " Are you going to tell me the plan?"
He smiles that devilish smile again. "Ah, yes. You have to become his slave."
My mouth drops open. " No way."
" It's the only way to get close to him."
" Why do I need to get close to him? Can't I just sneak in and kill him?"
Adrain laughs. " Shane didn't tell me you were so funny. We'll get along just fine," he stops and then adds, "you can't just sneak into the royal palace."
" Why not?"
" Because its the royal palace," he says as if that explained everything.
I sigh. " So what do you suppose we do?"
He picks up his coffee cup and takes a sip. " Nothing like a nice brew," he puts the cup down and looks at me, " You're not going to like it."
I thought back to what he said. " I have to be a slave."
" Yes, but not just any slave," he says, "You'll be the Vampire King's royal slave."
I frown. " I don't understand. Why must I be a slave?"
Adrain takes another sip of coffee then leans back. " Because it's the only way."
" You said that already."
He sighs. " What I mean is there's no other way to get into the royal palace. There are guards everywhere. Its almost impregnable but there's one way."
" Being a slave," I said catching on.
" Right," he agrees, " Alexander is known to have slaves. He gets them from a Slave Trader named Elliot."
" I've heard of him before," I say.
Elliot is on the Red Circle hit list. He's a notorious slave trader. He takes young women willingly and unwillingly then sale them to the highest buyer. Although Elliot was human, he was from it. He disgusted me.
" Wait, don't Elliot move his underground slave trade business from town to town?" I questioned remembering why my employers haven't tracked him down yet. It's almost impossible.
Adrain gave me a small smile, seeming pleased by my knowledge. " He does."
My eyebrows knitted together in confusion. " Then how are we going to find him? My organization doesn't even know how."
He grins. " But I do."
