I was driving with my aunt the long drive to Colorado. A seven-hour drive of listening to nothing but Game of Thrones on audiobook. Oh joy. I've never read the books or seen the show but it seems interesting. Something I would watch if I got the chance, so far the book is kind of... Bland. Though, I admit I wasn't really listening in the first place.
Anytime a sex scene would come up I tried my best not to laugh at the awkwardness. And I would look out the window. Plugging my nose as to not make a nasal puff laugh, as I called it.
We were headed up to Colorado for the summer to spend time with one of my aunt's friends. She lived on a nice little drive that attracted many deer during the night. I had only been there once before when we stayed a single night, just passing through. Though the couple wasn't present when we did so. I hadn't met them before.
The long drive is boring if you have nothing to do. So I lay my head against the cold glass and soon drifted off into a quiet nap, the noise of the book on tape fading into white noise.

About an hour or two later my whole body jolted when the car slammed to a stop. Sort of like how when you have a dream where you're falling and you wake up. I looked up with tired eyes and took in the situation in front of us on the road.
An old woman was stopped on the inside of the roundabout. My aunt began to yell, "Go fucker! This is not how you use a fucking roundabout!"
"Geez" I mumbled, a frown on my face.
She honked her horn and waited impatiently for the woman to go. Once she did, my aunt sped up passing the old woman on the other side of the roundabout.
She glanced over at the car as we passed it. "Oh, it was an old woman. Now I feel bad for yelling."
I shrugged and then continued to look out the window. We were just now getting into the forest. I could tell by the temperature of the window that it was cold outside.
We were getting closer to Bayfield, Colorado, I sighed.
It was still going to be a long drive. So boring. Long drive.
Just as I was watching outside the window, I saw a muscular man standing by the roadside. He had dark hair and a tall frame.
His body almost covered by the trees. But my eyes did not miss him, I don't think they ever would have been able to.
My body perked up at the sight. There was no mistake that he was looking straight at me. The whole time we were passing him he was looking at nothing but me. My heart rate picked up.
Who was he?
Why was he looking at me?
And wtf is he doing on the side of the road? Like, the heck?I didn't say anything to my aunt because she would have just told me I was seeing things. I knew, and I felt, that he was real.
And I knew that wouldn't be the last time I saw him.
**
It was about 10 pm by the time we arrived at my aunt's friends house. Amy was her name.
My aunt rushed out of the car. "I'll be right back to get my suitcase, I'm about to pee my pants."
She didn't wait for a reply as she waddled inside.I was glad to have a moment to myself for a second. I breathed in the fresh air, then out. A small puff of air left my mouth at the action.
It was dark out, and you could hear the wind blowing through the trees. It was so peaceful here.
My body stiffened when I felt eyes on me. I looked around a bit, looking for the owner of the eyes. I no doubt knew it was the guy from the road.
I felt excited. And my heart began to hammer in my chest. Similar as before.
