Schuyler Defeated

Another day in the Hamilton household, in the afternoon. Natsu was not present. There was a newspaper outside. Blaze went to retrieve it, and brought it to Lucy.

"Look! Grandpa's in the paper! 'War hero Jude Schuyler loses Senate seat to young upstart Gray Burr'!

Grandpa just lost his seat in the Senate!" He told his mother breathlessly. Lucy was gobsmacked. As she looked at the paper, she remembered how important it was to keep calm in front of her son. 

"Sometimes that's how it goes." She told her son the truth.

"Daddy's gonna find out any minute!" Blaze was worried about what Natsu would do to Burr if he found out.

"I'm sure he already knows..." Lucy herself was afraid.

"Further down,

Further down," They continued reading.

"Let's meet the newest Senator from Magnolia." Blaze certainly did have his father's personality. As soon as he said "meet", a golden flame formed in the cup of his hand. 

"Magnolia..." Lucy was enraged, but also much too worried to say anything else.

"Burr! 

Since when are you a Democratic-Republican?" Natsu pressed.

"Since being one got me on the up and up again!" Burr explained cockily.

"No one knows who you are or what you do." Natsu stated the obvious.

"They don't need to know me, they don't like you." Burr insulted him.

"Excuse me?" This was a warning, not a question.

"Oh, Sorcerer Weekly thinks you're great! You'll always be adored by the things you create. But upstate-" He continued.

"Wait." Natsu had a lot of things to say, all of them brutal.

"People think you're crooked. Schuyler's seat was up for grabs, so I took it." Burr explained.

"I've always considered you a friend." Natsu made one last attempt to reconvene.

"I don't see why that has to end." He was honest.

"...YOU CHANGED PARTIES TO RUN AGAINST MY FATHER-IN-LAW!" Natsu was incredulous that Burr was being so...callous.

"I changed parties to seize the opportunity I saw. I swear your pride will be the death of us all. Beware,it goeth before the fall." He justified his motives, which made Natsu livid. Then.. Lucy walked in and grabbed Natsu by the scarf to save Burr's life.
