(AN: Say goodbye to all positivity from this moment on.)

Jefferson, Madison, and Burr were in a dimly lit room as Natsu approached.

"Mr. Vice President...Mr. Madison..Senator Burr... what is this?" He asked.

"We have the check stubs from separate accounts...." Jefferson gloated.

"Almost a thousand dollars paid in different amounts..." Madison stared at the stubs, guffawing.

"To.. a Mr. Jellal Reynolds way back in X791?" Burr tried jogging his memory.

"Is that what you got? Are you done?" Natsu dismissed it entirely.

"You are uniquely situated by virtue of your position-" Madison began.

"Though, 'virtue' is not a word I'd apply to this situation-" Jefferson cut him off.

"To seek financial gain, to stray from your sacred mission-" Madison simpered.

"And the evidence suggests you've engaged in speculation-" Jefferson began.

"An immigrant embezzling our government funds-" Burr spat.

"I can almost see the headline, your career is done!" Jefferson and Madison snickered to themselves.

"I hope you saved some money for your daughter and sons." Burr added insult to injury.

"YA BEST GONNA WAN' RUN BACK WHERE YA COME FROM!" They taunted.

"Ha! You don't even know what you're askin' me to confess." Natsu scoffed.

"Confess." They ordered.

"You have nothing. I don't have to tell you anything at all unless..." Natsu said more than he should have.

"Unless?" They pressed.

"If I can prove that I never broke the law, do you promise to never tell another soul what you saw?" He demanded.

"No one else was in the room where it happened.." Burr pointed out.

"Is that a yes?" Natsu didn't fully understand Burr's mannerisms.

"Um..yes." They affirmed.

Burr had a piece of paper that had been written in case lacrima had failed. He read it off as:

"Dear sir..

I hope this letter finds you in good health, and in a prosperous enough position to put wealth in the pockets of people like me, down on their luck. You see, that was my wife you decided to-"

"Whaaaaaaaaaat?" Jefferson grabbed it, elated.

"She courted me. Escorted me to bed! She was terrifying, how could I back out?! And when she had me in a corner, that's when Reynolds extorted me for a sordid fee, I paid him quarterly. I may have mortally wounded my prospects, but my papers are orderly! As you can see, I kept a record of every check in my checkered history. Check it again against your list and see consistency! I never spent a cent that wasn't mine! You sent the dogs after my scent, that's fine. Yeah, I got reasons for shame! But I have not committed treason and sullied my good name! As you can see, I have done nothing to provoke lethal action! ARE MY ANSWERS TO YOUR SATISFACTION?" Before they could go any further, Natsu put up his defense.

"Mavis..." Jefferson was incredulous.. he had told them about the entire affair.

"Gentlemen, let's go." Madison turned to leave.

"SO?!" Natsu demanded.

"The people won't know what we know." Jefferson and Madison told him.

"OI! BURR! How do I know you won't use this against me the next time we go toe to toe?" Natsu stopped him from leaving.

"Natsu... rumors only grow. And we both know what we know." Burr explained, then left.
