"Newt, What happens when the door closes?" Thomas asked. Newt didn't answer, just turned and looked at the maze.
"Doesn't matter. We won't need to worry about it." Newt mumbled back.
"But, isn't Minho-"
"Yeah. Y/N too." Newt said quietly. Thomas looked at ground, nodding slowly.
"So if they don't make it back, then..."
"Then I just lost my best friend, and-" his voice cracked and he looked away. He took a shaky breath before looking back up at the doors.
"And Y/N." He mumbled. Thomas nodded sadly as newt cleared his throat and fiddled with the machete hanging on his hip.
"So if they don't, then do we send someone in? What happens if they don't make it?" Thomas asks. Newt frowns, squaring his shoulders and staring out the glade.
"They're gonna make it." He said firmly. Thomas took a step closer.
"Yeah, I know. But if they don't?" He asked again. Newt glanced at Thomas quickly.
"They're gonna make it." He said confidently. Both boys turned to watch the doors, and newt nodded a few times. He only did it to try and convince himself, but the though of losing you was just too much.
