Silent Howl

Chapter 1

Running.

That's all I could think about doing. All I know is I have to get away from him.

I'm barefoot running through the dark forest. Wearing a ripped up over sized T-shirt and a pair of underwear. As I'm running all I can feel is the cold wet ground smushing against my feet. I could feel the beaming of the moonlight on my skin as its beaming through the trees from above. I don't know where I'm going. I need to get out of his territory.

I've been held in the Blue Moon Pack since I was 7. It hasn't always been like this.

The sound of howls took me out of my thoughts. I immediately picked up the pace. I was surprised on how fast my weak body has been taking me. I am so malnourished. I'm 17, 5'2, and I weigh 102 pounds. Well, the last time I checked which was about a month ago. When that asshole actually let me shower.

I fell over a big stump which snapped me out of my thoughts. That's when I felt a warm sensation running down my leg. Blood. They're gonna pick up my scent easier now! I need to run faster.

That's when a giant wolf took me to the ground...

"Ms. Johnson?"

..

"MS. JOHNSON?!"

"Yes!" I exclaimed as I shot up from desk.

"Can you please tell me what the square root of 149 is?" Mr. Nelson snapped.

I looked around and I notice everyone is staring at me. I felt my face get really hot. I know my face is red right now.

"Well?"

"Is it 9?" I said as I looked down at my feet.

Then I heard as the class roared out with laughter.

"I need to see you after class Mia."

"Yes sir."

That was so embarrassing. Way to go Mia. I've always sucked at math. Well, at school really. It doesn't really help that I'm around kids that hate me. But really they're just prissy, snobby, flea bags.

I know what you're thinking, you're not a werewolf Mia? I am in fact one. Most wolves wouldn't say I am. I haven't had a shift yet. I can talk to my wolf though. Her name is Amber. She's bossy and full of attitude.

"Don't forget I can hear you Mia."

She really knows how to make me laugh though. She is my other half. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her.

*Bell rings*

As everyone got up from their desk, Matt Duncan walked by and smacked all my books off my desk.

"Oops. Sorry, I guess I didn't see you there Mia." Matt said with a smart look on his face.

"Yeah, okay Matt. Don't need to be an asshole all your life." I snapped.

"Someone has attitude today." Matt chuckled.

"Only for you." I exclaimed as I rolled my eyes.

"Ms. Johnson come see me."

I quickly bent over and grabbed my books off the floor. As I started walking towards Mr. Nelsons desk he crossed his arms and gave me a "I would kill you if you weren't my student" look.

"Yes sir?" I said as I looked at the floor.

"Mia, I know you're going through a tough time right now. I really do understand that it was a traumatic moment in your life but I'm trying to help you."

I couldn't help the tears that was falling down my face.

"I-I'm really trying..." I exclaimed while trying to choke down the tears.

"I have done so much to help you already. I've let you use open book on tests and I've looked the other way on some homework assignments but I cant keep doing that. I need you to learn this. Its very important that you know this stuff, whether you're in a pack or a rogue. I mean I even convinced the Alpha to allow you to stay on the territory and get the training." Mr. Nelson said with a calming voice.

"I know.. I really appreciate everything you have done for me. But this is just all so new that I don't think that I'm really understanding it.." I said as I fittled with my hands.

Mr. Nelson let out a big sigh before he looked at me with remorse.

"Just make sure that you are going to your tutoring." Mr. Nelson exclaimed as I started walking towards the door.

"And Ms. Johnson? Please pay attention in class."

"Yes sir." I said as I pushed the big oak door open.
