The first notification that Grace saw the next morning was from Instagram. She heard her phone vibrate from her beside table, following a displeased groan from Awsten, the noise obviously having woken him up too. She peeled her eyes open slightly and grabbed her phone best she could, squinting at the brightness of the screen.
"Jawn Rocha tweeted : Back in England... Again! Getting that feeling of being a broke student again /: "
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Why was Jawn in England again?
Grace placed her phone back down before rolling over slightly and nudging Awsten awake. He just buried his face more into her pillow and groaned as she kept nudging him.
"Whaaaaat?" His muffled voice said and Grace stifled a giggle,
"Did you know Jawn was coming back to England?" She asked before yawning. They definitely hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before.
When Awsten heard that, his eyes shot open and he rolled over, using his arm to lean up slightly,
"What? No. What?" He asked, just as confused as Grace. Jawn would've told them if he was coming back to England, surely. He wouldn't just pop in, and he'd only just got back to Houston regardless.
"He tweeted out saying he was back in England... Doesn't say London, but," Grace shrugged, and watched as Awsten leaned over for his own phone, muttering a 'what the fuck' under his breath.
"I thought he was staying in Houston, why the hell is he back?" Awsten mumbled, confusion laced through his voice. Grace just shrugged again as she sat up on the side of the bed. It was already late morning, and if they were going to get their normal sleep pattern back, there was no point staying asleep all day. She cracked her back before standing up and walking over to the door to let the dogs inside. Normally, the dogs - and occasionally the cats - would sleep in her room with her (or sometimes Awsten's room if he was feeling nice) but on nights like the night before, they were degraded to their dog beds downstairs.
As soon as she opened the door, she was met with Godfrey and Lily jumping at her and trying to give her kisses. Godfrey went straight past Grace and jumped onto the bed to see Awsten. It wasn't that Godfrey preferred Awsten, not at all, but he just seemed to miss him all the time when he wasn't around.
"Hey buddy," Awsten spoke to him, stroking his head.
"Do you have work today?" He asked Grace, tearing his eyes away from Godfrey,Grace looked away from Lily and hummed slightly, thinking,
"No, don't think so? Why, did you have something planned?" She said, looking back down at Lily and fussing her,
"No, no" He chuckled, "But if you did you were about to be very late." Awsten motioned towards the clock and they both realised how late in the morning it actually was. Sure, they'd gone to sleep considerably later than usually, but they never woke up this late.
"Good job I don't have work then." Grace shrugged and stood up, walking over to her closet to get a baggy jumper. She picked the first one she saw and slid it on over her head, watching as the bottom of the jumper fell right below her underwear onto her thighs, and the sleeves completely encased her hands. She walked back over to the bed and picked her phone up from the nightstand before walking out of the room and down the stairs.
She could vaguely hear Awsten standing up and walking around the room upstairs as she made her way into the kitchen. She flicked the kettle on and got cocoa powder and marshmallows out and placed them on the counter, waiting for the water to boil. She quickly walked into the living room to grab her mac book and brought it into the kitchen to place it on the table. She knew she had some stuff to do, like pay bills, and she needed to do them before her and Awsten forgot.
