When Thomas awoke, it was pitch-black and silent. He rubbed the sleep away, his dark eyes fluttering open. Sitting up a bit, he stared around the room, trying to adjust his eyes. A small snore sounded from beside him, and he looked to his left, smiling softly at the lump still fast asleep beside him.
Dylan was on his side, his arms curled under his head like a pillow. The covers had slipped off of him, and Thomas sighed. Dylan always complained of being cold in the night but he never tried to keep the blankets around him. He pulled the covers back over him and stood, exiting the room ever so quietly.
He collapsed on the living room couch, tucking his feet under him, and stared out the window. The world was quiet, no lights on, no busy people. The sun hadn't risen, the birds weren't chirping. Thomas watched the stillness, still half asleep.
Eventually footsteps came from the hallway and Dylan padded into the room, his brown hair flattened on one side where he slept on it. His big brown eyes reflected how tired he was, and he was clutching a blanket around his shoulders. His beautiful boyfriend sat beside him and pulled him onto his lap, wrapping him in the blanket.
"Love, why are you awake?" Thomas glanced at the clock and then back at Dylan, who was currently running his fingers through Thomas' hair. "It's three in the morning."
"Because. I don't really know, actually. I guess I just can't sleep without you," Dylan's morning voice was adorable, and Thomas giggled. He kissed his cheek and Dylan grinned, making him even more angelic somehow. "Good morning, baby."
Thomas smiled and set his hands on Dylan's cheeks, their lips brushing. He closed the gap, neither caring about morning breath. The kiss was soft and loving, like a good morning. They broke apart and Dylan shifted so he was laying on the couch, Thomas on top of him. The blond set his head on his chest, and Dylan continued playing with his hair.
"Go to sleep, sweetheart." His voice was only a whisper, and Thomas was already gone.

He awoke a little bit later, still on top of Dylan. The clock read 4:24 am, and he let out a sigh. He shifted a little so his body was more on the couch and less on his boyfriend, and Dylan tightened his arms around him in his sleep. Thomas adjusted so he could nuzzle Dylan's neck, and pressed gentle, barely detectable kisses to his jawline. Closing his eyes, he quickly drifted off again.

The next time he regained consciousness, he was alone. It took him a little while, but he recovered his senses and took a deep breath. The smell of cooking wafted from the kitchen, and he stood to investigate.
Dylan was standing at the stove, pouring mixed batter onto a pan. Thomas observed for a second, taking in the sight of his angel. His brown hair was messy as usual, and he was shirtless. Freckles covered most of his back, and Thomas loved to try and count them or trace shapes between them. Dylan turned his head, looking over his shoulder at him, his chocolate eyes sparkling under long lashes.
"Are you gonna watch me all day?" He turned back to the stove and flipped a pancake.
"I'd love to, but I won't," Thomas walked the few steps across the kitchen, hugging Dylan from behind. He bent his head, resting it on Dylan's shoulder, and Dylan kissed his temple.
"Good morning, baby."
"Again," Thomas couldn't help but add, because he thought it was funny how he'd already awoken twice that morning, and Dylan grinned.
"Again."
Thomas turned to the fridge and took out fruit. Grabbing a cutting board and a knife, he cut an apple, an orange and some strawberries, putting them in a bowl with some grapes. He placed the bowl on the table and then flitted around the kitchen, going through cupboards and getting out utensils, cups and plates. The two boys worked around each other, stopping for quick hugs and small kisses.
As he set the table for breakfast, Thomas found himself appreciating simple mornings like this. And god, if every morning with Dylan O'Brien could be as wonderful, he'd never miss a single one.
