A promise stays a promise, Alexie. I did tell you that I had left my job incomplete, those incapable humans who took you in know nothing about you, they were simply being a nuisance to me by trying to 'protect' you. They are not the one you need Alexie, I am. You need me if not now, eventually. Hope you forget about those adoptive parents of yours, it would lessen my task...

Hot tears stained the small note and I tried to contain a cry. I promised my dad, I won't cry anymore. I won't cry...

I felt another hot tear fall down my cheek and to the paper. I tried to force the thoughts to the back of my mind when my phone suddenly rang, almost instinctively, I reached out for it and sob for the one person I thought it could be. Hoped that she would tell me that this was all a simple prank since they missed me and wanted to take revenge for what I had done to them last time. Not wasting a single time to look at the caller's ID, I unlocked it, "Mom.." I let out a strangled sob, I couldn't do this, I was physically unable to do anything.

I let myself slide down the counter, unable to hold my own weight until the cold, hard ground greeted me. I closed my eyes, trying to bring my senses together, "Alex? Alex, are you okay? Has anything happened," the soothing voice instantly made me calm down to an extreme degree but I still couldn't get the lump in my throat out no matter how hard I tried to swallow it.

"Nath," I said in the most strangled voice I could muster, my voice cracked and that was when I realised that I was not myself anymore. The images were blurring my view, the memories coming back from a past I wished to forget, the last voice on the other, everything that happened registered in my mind and all I could do was sit back and that this was all part of a bad dream.

"Alexie, I'm coming to get you...Are you at home? I'm coming at your place." he left no place for discussion but me, being me, I, stubbornly, stood my grounds although I was in no mood for petty disputes and that I wanted to simply be alone, "Nath, I-I'm fi-fine. Nothing-nothing's happening," I tried to swallow the lump, again, but to no avail, it was like a persistent brat who wanted his candy back.

"I'm not leaving you like this Alex. I'm coming over and you better stay where you are...and don't do anything irrational!" He said his last words before ending the call and soon after, I heard the door close with a thud, a very worried Nath stood in front of me, with messy bed hair, with grey jumpers and a white shirt on with black running shoes on.

I know that it was not the most appropriate time to think about this right now but I had to admit that he looked super cute without his signature leather jacket on. He loved it so much that I even thought he slept with it on. A distressed face was the complete opposite of his usual calm and composed face. Guess the bad boy can be normal at times too.

I smiled at the thought. "Alexie.." my name rolled off his tongue so smoothly that it felt as if it belonged there. He was suddenly crouched next to me, looking at my tear-stained face, "Are you okay?... What happened?" he said in the same soothing voice as before and I found myself unable to construct actual sentences. The previous events came back to me like a whirlwind and I struggled to keep my sobs.

"Mom..Dad...de-dead," I couldn't take it anymore when he had put his ice-cold arms around me, wrapping me in a hug, caressing my hair while whispering sweet nothings in my ear in a way to calm me down.

After a moment of great calming down later, when he felt that I could speak fluent words now, he released me, holding me by my shoulder and looking straight to my brown orbs, "Alex, you have to tell me what happened exactly else I won't be able to help you but first, let's get you washed up...okay?" he asked as if speaking to a child.
