Chapter 20: Tomato Ketchup Sauce...?

I screamed, sitting on my bed. What?

It looked like it was morning. Probably mid-day by the burn I felt on my bare hands and arms.

"Alex? Are you okay?" I shook my head, momentarily disoriented, before opening my eyes to meet the baby blue one of Nath. I jerked away, memories of my past thoughts flooding my mind and rushing in front of my eyes.

"You- you passed out on the couch... I- I had to bring you up here, in- in your room, " he hastily explained, stammering in the process.

"What happened yesterday?" I questioned, feeling my head throb. "Gaaahhh! My head hurts."

"I'll get you the meds, " discarding my first question, he started to leave. If he even thought for a single bit that I was going to let him leave without a response then he was terribly wrong. Wrapping my warm fingers as tightly as I could around his cold wrist, I tried holding him back. Asking - more like demanding - answers for the first question again, pinning him down under my gaze which was kind of hard since he was standing and looking very intimidating.

As he raked his mind for an answer, I find myself drifting off from the real world, my subconscious drawing me back to the scenes of yesterday, making me look at it, not from my own eyes but from someone else's - a third person's point of view.

Nathaniel whimpering names in his sleep as I stirred awake. I hadn't taken my time admiring the scenery so everything blurred around me and him, focusing on only us. As I looked over at Nath, sweat glistening his face, I instantly knew he wasn't in the same room as me. I had made the undeniable mistake of trying to wake someone up from having a nightmare which I was all too familiar with sadly and then-

"Dracula, " he said. "We were watching Dracula before you fell asleep."

I stretched and winced. My hand came up to rub at the skin of my neck, making me hiss at the slight pain.

I probably slept in the wrong position henceforth the dream.

Nathaniel's face contorted into slight guilt for a second before turning neutral again. His eyes, though, said a completely different story - his pupils were dilated and the pale blue colour they usually contain were of a much darker shade.

Before I could mention anything about it, he took my hands off him and proceeded to get back to whatever he was going to do next.

"I'm gonna go get you those meds... For your headache, I mean."

The slight click of the door had me releasing the breath I didn't know I was holding, "Well, he looked uncomfortable."

My daily morning routine was over before I knew it. Once I believed my head was cleared out of any thoughts and doubts, the loud shouts coming from downstairs made it all come all the way back. A loud groan escaped my lips before I could stop it, "What now?" I muttered to no one in particular, descending the stairs two steps at a time.

"Are you fucking kidding me, Nathaniel... This does not make up for all the mistakes you have done so far, and everything you have done to her, " I heard the unusual angry voice that sounded like it belonged to Daniel say to what seemed to Nathaniel.

I had never heard Daniel yell like that... To anybody ever.

"This could have been way worst if you would have squeezed harder... This better be the last time. Control yourself, first the restaurant and now this. Come on, I thought you were better than this." He whispered in such a cold voice, I felt my blood run cold in my body. A shiver ran down my body.
