Chapter Six
The days until the tournament arrives are ending slowly. I'm anxious to already participate but I best train some more. I don't want to slack off and end up losing easily. I will take this seriously. I haven't seen Johnny in a while. He's probably been looking for a woman to hit on for the past few days and hasn't even bothered to begin training. Though I regret ever making an agreement with him I just hope that he gets eliminated quickly so the agreement is gone.
Today I decide to go with Nina to the training grounds. It is a rather large open area that is meant for all kinds of training. There are several things that I look at but I don't start training yet. Then after a bit I notice that Nina is sparring with someone else. I decide to watch her sparring session. Her stance is mostly focusing on her legs. Her legs aren't stopping. She must rely on her legs to do more damage than the rest of her body. It kind of looks like she's dancing around and not really trying for the fight. Though her stance may seem a bit silly she is completely serious and doesn't lose focus. She moves first against her opponent with a long kick. Her opponent isn't fast enough and is hit square on the jaw. He stumbles back as he clenches his jaw with one hand. He then charges at her but she sweeps him and he falls face first on the floor. She then goes on top of him and kicks his back showing that she is the victor. After she has finished her session I walk past her sparring partner and approach her.
"Nina that was a great spar you had there. The way you moved is nothing I've ever seen before." She looks at me, surprised of my comment.
"Really? It's not that popular, but for a fellow martial artist, you might've at least heard of the name. It's called Capoeira. It took me years to master this, though my master said that I was a natural at this and said that I was able to learn this sooner than all of those he has taught."
"Well your master was right about you being a natural. You moved without a problem and seemed to be able to attack as if you know when to move for the perfect strike." She smiles at that. After we decide that we have finished training we decide to take a walk on the beach. She smiles and looks at the ocean. It's not everyday someone like me can see these kinds of things. I enjoy the view with her and smile as well. She then looks back at me.
"You mentioned you had a sister. Do you have any memory of her at all?" I think about for a moment, not actually sure if I did.
"No, I don't. She was kidnapped the same day my father was murdered. I don't really have any memories about her. All I know is that I have a sister. Though I'm not even sure if she's even alive." If my sister is alive, I have no clue where she'd even be.
"How old were you when all of this happened?" Her curious mind doesn't stop. Can't blame her, she just wants to get to know me.
"It happened so many years ago. I don't even know how I survived all these wars." She ponders for a moment.
"Wars? What do you mean? The United States hasn't been in any wars in over 40 years." She furrows her brow while staring at me, as if to wonder how old I am.
"Well prepare to be speechless yet again. I am actually around 12,000 years old." She is taken aback at this.
"What? How can you be that old? I'm only 27! Are you just joking around?" She asks confused and slightly aggravated.
"It's because of my race. I'm not human, I'm actually a descendant of a long destroyed race called Edenians. We live for thousands of years. For us around my age we are still considered young. I lived on many different realms, roaming around for countless ages, and about one hundred years ago I arrived here." She shakes her head in disbelief.
"I'm always learning something new about you that always surprises me. I'm always left speechless after you tell me about your life." At least she hasn't shown disinterest in me yet.
"Let's go back to our room I'm sure the food is already because I'm really hungry." She nods and we both start to walk towards our room. When we get to our room the food isn't there yet so we decide it's best to take a shower first and then just relax. After a few hours the servant arrives with our food. Though today seems to be more food than any of the other days we've eaten. Today it looks like black mashed potatoes with a blue sauce. We still have no idea what we are eating but whatever it is, it's great. After we finish the food and the plates have vanished we decide to just lay around and do nothing. Then eventually we fall asleep. I then start to have a weird dream as if somebody is calling my name. Kana. Kana. Who could it be? I don't recognize the voice. After closely listening to the voice all I can make out is that it's a woman's voice. Though I don't know who it may be. Could it be my mother? What would she want from me? Or could it be someone I've never met before? Kana. Kana. The voice just keeps repeating my name. After hours of just my name being repeated I eventually wake up. I wonder about it for awhile, though I don't dwell too long on the dream and just continue with training. As of today there are 4 days left until the tournament begins. I grow anxious and can't wait for this moment of my life. I will avenge my father and I will do my best in the tournament.
