Chapter 9
A entire week after we had returned from the Outworld tournament has passed already. It's been nothing but training as we wait for whatever comes next. Sparring among each other, training what we can learn from the monks who were gracious enough to teach us, and honing our abilities if we can. Raiden would go with Hikari and Yami to go out and scout around Earthrealm for any disturbances that can be dealt with, or to see if Outworld is plotting anything soon.
Occasionally Hikari would stay back to continue her training I had with her before we had gotten captured by the cyborgs. I never had a chance to even speak with her brother, but I honestly could care less about him. He obviously doesn't care about his own sister to properly train her. Somehow it's fallen to me, but as long as we manage to survive the upcoming battles it doesn't matter who's here. What has been improving with her is her sword fighting technique, and a similar to Raiden's short distance teleportation, except instead of lightning she leaves a radiant light instead. She's proud of her progress at least. Apparently she shares identical powers as her brother yet, for some reason he's already gained his abilities. It doesn't seem right. I've never seen him in action besides him flying, but I'm supposed to not be suspicious of him somehow being stronger than her from the beginning? I think I should keep an eye on him. Something might be going on that even Raiden can't sense. I would ask Hikari but she would more than likely be oblivious and think little of this. I have to speak with Sareena about this. If anyone would be able to sense something wrong, it'd definitely be her. Especially since she also doesn't know him too well either it helps. At the very least, she can aid me with whatever suspicion I have of him. Worst case scenario he may be a spy relaying info to Outworld. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but if I'm right I'd need to expose him and take him down. I've sparred with Hikari, and if I am to believe they're similar in abilities I am definitely at a mobility disadvantage.
After a sparring session I meet up with Sareena and relay my suspicions.
"Let me get this straight. You're going to me first, over your girlfriend for something like subterfuge, investigating what looks like a fallen angel Edenian? Don't even get me started as to why they even have wings, let alone ones that are so damn huge!"
"Well I chose you specifically since you've been under the influence of Quan Chi and know what it's like to serve someone as evil as that. I'm just asking if you can sense similarities, and if there are hints, investigate them, and if they are true, we expose it to the group and more than likely will have to take him down. The more serious it gets, is when I will ask for more people to aid us. For now it's just us that need to know. Got it?"
She thinks over for a moment. A hand to her chin as she looks off into the distance. Finally she nods.
"Alright. I understand. Though if I am caught and end up dying again, find a way to lay me to rest if possible." She says in a joking way.
"I trust you for this. You will succeed, and you'll live. Do whatever it takes to live. Though if it does come to it, at the very least I'll avenge you." I say placing a firm hand on her shoulder. Our gazes meet, and she gives me back the same determination I did.
"I'll get on it as soon as he's back then. I'll provide results as best as I can. You should at least keep his sister away, and distract her as much as possible. Who knows what could happen if she finds out and sides with him." She says as she walks away.
Hours passed since I told Sareena what to do and I haven't heard back from her. I'm assuming Yami has yet to return. Then again, having results the same day would be hoping for too much. Waiting by the training grounds for this long does tend to get boring. As I'm about to head back to my own room Hikari is walking towards me.
