Chapter 17
Once I am on the other side of the portal I see that we were immediately greeted by shaolin monks. We are at the the temple where Liu Kang and Kung Lao trained for their entire lives. Liu and Kung Lao walk towards the crowd of monks while the rest lag behind or move around. Nina is talking to one monk. From the look of the book in her hand it seems she's asking about her grandfather's illness. Can't blame her for trying really. Johnny is continuously hitting on Sonya. Jax is with Raiden elsewhere. Raiden said we have to wait until after sundown for the feast and celebration to begin. He told me that we were expected later. Though from Liu Kang's skill we have arrived earlier than anticipated. It gives them a while to catch up at least. From what it looks like Kung Lao is telling the tale but with severe exaggeration to make him look even more heroic. Though Liu is correcting Kung Lao and speaking the truth. I decide to take a look around. I walk towards a rail made of wood. I look far into the world. The world I'm currently staring at looks nothing like New York and anywhere modern. In the distance it you can see what looks like a marketplace. Where the hell are we? I've been wandering in this world for thousands of years and still have no fucking clue where anything is. The names of all these places change so suddenly due to wars all the time. I best just stay in the areas I do know when I return. But where will I go? I'm not going back to that "family". I need to find a home. Though I don't have the qualities to get money to make a living in this world maybe I could find another place or even a whole other realm to live in. When this ceremony is over I should speak to everyone about this matter. I hope Johnny doesn't respond. I'd rather live with the monks than Johnny. I should pray to the elder gods that he keeps shut when I speak of this. Or if he flirts. Though I haven't prayed once in my entire life. It doesn't matter I doubt I ever will, or that I'll need to. Maybe I should try asking Raiden who my mother is. Maybe he knows who she is. Though it's not like there is only one other goddess. I shall wait until I see an opportunity to properly question him. Until then I'll focus on today and our celebration. Though it's mostly for Liu's victory they still appreciate all of our participation in the tournament. In reality it was a bit bloodier than what I was previously expecting. I knew people were going to die but not on such a large scale or to such evil foes. I thought the tournament was just to prove strength but it had a much deeper reality than just fighting for satisfaction of gaining pride. This just has a whole new meaning of reality than anything else in the world.
Considering how I now see Jade as a much closer friend than before I'm assuming this won't be the last of her. I have a feeling that I'll meet her along the way. From there we will become even closer. I never would've seen her "gift" coming. I didn't know that she was attached to me as I am to her. She gives me a weird feeling every time I'm around her. Maybe she has the same feeling around me as well. Like when her cheeks begin to blush she tries to hide her face when that happens. Maybe from those reasons she decided to kiss me.
Some time has passed and the sun is finally setting. This means that the celebration will finally begin. I walk over to the large stage area in the middle of the temple grounds. There is one long table enough to fit everyone that's here. The food is served all around the table and the ones who eat first are us the participants in the tournament. Once I sit at the table Johnny sits next to Sonya. Liu next to Kung Lao. Nina sits next to me. She still seems a little disappointed from her fight. I ask her " Have you found anything that will help with your grandfather's illness from the monks here?" She looks over to me and just shakes her head. She seems to have nearly given up on hope. I then say " Have you asked Raiden about this yet like you were supposed to?"
"N...No I haven't." She replies.
" You should ask Raiden he might be all that you can do to save him. Go on ask him right now."
She looks towards Raiden who is talking with Jax at the moment near the temple which is near some stairs. She gets the courage to finally stand up and head in their direction. I decide to trust in Nina and begin to eat what is served. Though there is mostly just tea and rice I'm glad I have food. I haven't had much to eat these past few days. Though this is only the appetizer from what I've been told. I really can't wait to eat. I'm wondering what the main course will be.
