Yoongi's POV:
"Are you coming?? We don't have all day!" Namjoon yells from across the dorm, he's so impatient today it's ridiculous. First he woke me at an ungodly hour (like 12pm-ish, but it is a day off), then practically forced breakfast (probs lunch at this hour though) down my throat, before shoving me into my room and to the closet, whilst yelling at me to get dressed the whole time."Yeah, gimme a minute!"
"Hyung if you don't get to the door right now I think that Hoseok-hyung will give your ticket away!" Mmm, he would sell it wouldn't he...
Hoseok's been almost worse than Joon today, the usual bounce in his step has become so intense that he's started to look like a yoyo. If I'm honest though I can't deny that I'm looking forward to the event too. It's been so long since we've had any free time. Quickly I pull on a jacket and race downstairs, only stopping to grab my shoes on the way. When I finally get to the door I see that the situation hasn't improved, the two of them are practically bouncing off the walls waiting for me.
"Yah! Finally!! Come on get in the car!"
The ride was a nightmare... But really I should have expected it. I mean what did I think would happen when two highly energised balls of excitement are put in a confined space together? The entire trip was spent with them getting steadily louder and louder as they started their own karaoke tournament in the back seat (okay, so I might have participated on one or two songs.... ). Honestly, I have no idea how the staff member driving us was still sane by the time we got there. Finally the journey was done and we got out of the car.
From where we parked you can see the crowds outside the stadium, the amount of people is incredible. It almost rivals one of our own concerts in sheer size. Thank god we don't have to get in that way is all I can think. Just imagining waiting in the mass of people for hours to get into the venue puts my nerves on edge. As these thoughts cross my mind someone in a bright yellow vest arrives and ushers us away fans around towards the back of the stadium. I recognise the route from concerts that we've held here ourselves. We are headed towards the VIP seats.
As we sit down in some of the only comfortable seats in the whole stadium, I can't help but feel sorry for the vocal line. They were all really disappointed when they found out that they had a workshop today. At least they can still attend the second night. We had tried to get tickets to all go together but it had almost sold out and only 4 seats were left. But I guess it worked out in the end. As I watch, All around us the seats begin to fill, until not a single one is left empty.
The sky is darkening by the time the doors close, the first star is just twinkling into view. For a few minutes we sit in the dull light, the entire stadium silent. Suddenly the stage is illuminated, cueing a flood of the lightest blue to wash over the audience. A hiss next to me from Hoseok reminds me of the light stick in my own hand. As I fiddle with the switch the stage darkens again. But for only less than a second. A spotlight flashes on and suddenly in the centre of the beam five figures have appeared as if by magic.
"Hey everyone! It's great to see you here tonight! We're certainly excited to have a concert after so long, so we have something special for you prepared!"
"Haha, don't tell them that yet! There's still a bit of a wait."
The greetings begin, starting with Joohee as the leader trying to get through her intro whilst the others interrupt repeatedly. They talk for a few minutes, the energy in the crowd growing with each second. And then they are gone as abruptly as they appeared.
Just like before, moments later another spotlight is lit. This time only one person stands in the light. Ari is teetering above the stage, several meters away from where she was before. I can't help but marvel at the skill and speed at which they use the stage. I doubt that our own transitions are anywhere near as smooth. As I watch she launches herself off the podium into the breathtaking flip that I would never forget. The first night that I saw it seems so long ago now, but it still never fails to impress me. The second that she hits the stage the music picks up and she begins to dance.
From there the Intro song plays out followed by another and another. Each performance is as seamless as the last, only punctuated by the occasional skit to provide time for the members to change costumes. Through out the night a handful of fans are pulled onto the stage and I find myself extremely grateful of our seats hidden from their immediate view. Even though we perform ourselves, I still haven't managed to shake my ingrown fear of audience participation. At least when we go onstage we're prepared for all possible outcomes, but with random participants who knows what they could throw at you!
Just as the thoughts leave the forefront of my mind the stage goes dark once more. I look down at the program to see what's next, but apparently the skit is still meant to be going. I realise that this must be the surprise that they had been promising.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Originally the performance was in this chapter but the chapter was HUGE so I moved it, and now you have to wait till next week 😉ALSO HOW GOOD IS FAKE LOVE!!! I'm so proud of them doing so well, they definitely deserve their win at the BBMAS!
Anyway, question of the week:
Of the songs that have been released so far in 2018 which is your favourite?I'd have to say BABY by The Rose wins almost without trying, there's just something about Woosung's voice and their style of music that I just can't go past. (Fake love comes a close second, followed by serendipity though.)
See you next time 👋🏻👋🏻
