(15) Explaning Things To You

Graceland's P.O.V

I couldnt believe that really just happened. I mean whats going to happen to me and Evan... OH MY GOD RYDER !!! Her mother is now in jail. How the heck are we suppose to survive. & this whole Avery and my mother thing. I mean this is just too much to handle. I need someone to talk to. I called the only person I knew that I could count on.

"Hello?" She answered on the third ring

"Hey Jess, It's me."

"Well duhh, You called on my cellphone.. I have your number"

"Right.." Duhh she has my number " Anyways I was wondering if we could talk.. maybe meet up somewhere ?" There was a pause at the other end before she spoke again.

" Um yeah sure.. We can meet At that pizza shack just outside of town?" She asked.

"Yeah that's great. I just have to pick up the kids and then I'll be there."

"Kids?" she asked clearly confused.

" Uh yeah kids. I'll explain later. We really need to talk "

"Yeah okay. Well see you there" and with that we hung up.

I drove back to our place, got out and went in.

"Hey Graceland is it ? How was the court hearing ? ... Wheres Aaliyah and Marleigh?"

I felt tears began to well up in my eyes as I thought about it. How in that split second my life and world as I knew it came crashing down around us. Leaving me to pick up the pieces all by myself.

"Where's Ryder and Evan ?" I asked not wanting to slip up and say something in front of them.

"They're out In the back playing... What's up ?"

"Well everything took a turn for the worse ... Let's just say Ryder will be a teenager before she see her mother again. " she covered her mouth as she gasped seeming shocked but what she just heard..

"They found out ?" she asked. I just nodded my head in response.

"Oh my God ! Whats going to happen ?"

I shrugged my shoulders not really sure of what to say.. " I dont know"

It was an awkward silence neither of us saying anything. Giving that I couldnt take the silence anymore and that I had somewhere to go I broke it

"You know you can leave right ?"

"Um I can watch the kids still.. Its really no problem"

"That's alright. I'm going to take them out for pizza." She nodded as if understanding before she turned on her heels, gathered her things, said good bye to Ryder and Evan before she left. I went back to the backyard where they were to try and rally them up

"Guys come on.. We going out for pizza"

They screamed and yelled as they put on there shoes excited for the pizza. Once they were done we headed out to the car. It was a long drive about 20 minutes or so and the care was filled with silence until Ryder broke it

"Gracieee?"

"Hmm?" I asked glancing at her before turning back to the road

"Where's my mommy ?"

As that question rolled off her tongue I was so shock that the car swerved a little bit but I quickly regained control. I looked around to see both Ryder and Evan's eyes on me.

"Sorry" I muttered. I looked back over to Ryder to see her still looking at me. Waiting for me to answer her question.

"Ryder, You're mom and Aunt Marleigh are doing some business but she will be back as soon as possible."
