Justice for Asifa...

We are girls, for how long it's price we will be paying,
Since when 'egalitarianism- the victims need' are we just saying.

Brutality at its peak, crushing innocence of an 8 year old,
Girls are not objects to shove them inside a shelter and outside- decorate them with gold.

Asifa deserved a life like me and you,
Her will to live was murdered cruelly, whatever was left was in the end brewed.

Where lions come to save a girl from the beatings,
When drugged and raped repeatedly, who knew what sort of animals was she facing.

Here people are fighting for communities when they should be fighting for justice,
When will the government wake up, until when will girls be thrown into such sexual abyss.

This is untollerable, the priest, the juvenile, the police officers all the rapists need to bear her pain,
Why leave them because of their stature, their power has to be disdained.

Some respect from men is expected for women who are considered as goddesses in our country,
Why are we so hypocrite, how could a rape happen in a temple where we praise the holy deity.

It's heart wrenching, horrifying, agitating and above all agonizing to see this happen to an infant,
We need to rise above the communal aspect of this case, for rights of a woman.

Women need to be nurtured like a flower so that she can bloom and spread the fragrance,
If you pluck her for her beauty, the garden will lack her unique essence.

Let her, as a kid enjoy her childhood then learn and be an independent, confident woman,
She deserves a life different from that of your sexual pleasure-like ill omen.

Awaken to her pains, reach out and pacify her anguish,
Not her body, her soul is being raped, this terrifying mentality needs to be vanquished.

Awaken to her pains, reach out and pacify her anguish,Not her body, her soul is being raped, this terrifying mentality needs to be vanquished

Yes my friends, this is why I posted this poem here. Guys, please stop considering yourselves as the owners of our bodies and girls, fight back. Here one 8 years old girl was raped by 4 people. Only she knows what she went through and by going into the details I don't want to hurt her soul. All I want to say is please, this is not a religion/community issue. Rape is crime against the rights of a woman. It doesn't necessarily have to be because she is a Muslim or a Hindu or a Christian. We need to overcome such superficial criterias while judging a rape case. And also the stature of the rapists need to be ignored because their standard is already fallen way below the ground when the even thought of such an hideous crime.

If my poem can change a mind of at least 1 rapist I will consider myself lucky. Please stand against this crime. I request one and all.

Yours sincerely,
Smiling Angel :)
