Antagonistic Muse

I wrote many poems
about you
and for you.

Perhaps you are my muse
but why are all those poems
so dark,
so full of misery
and lack much love?

Were you ever right for me?
Being with you felt great and terrible.
We held hands and sang together;
We laughed and danced together
But
We fought
and withheld our true emotions;
We antagonized and harboured ill feelings for each other.

And for all I’ve known about friendship
this was what I never knew.
I think I forgot to read the terms and conditions.
I think I just agreed to whatever you said.
Maybe just ignored you for all I cared.

I think I miss you
Or maybe just the idea of you.
I remember the good times
those are the easiest to come to mind
but the misery I had with you is never far behind.

I thought we got closure
So why am I writing about you.
Maybe that day would soon come
When I’ll finally get over you.
