Zara's p.o.v
"his friend is Vegan?" my grandfather asked me whilst we sat down over tea and biscuits, Yeah that's kind of our thing. Anyways Joe's dinner wasn't interesting at all, Andys nephew turned up but lets be honest the guy loved himself and talked about himself so much that i wanted to stab him with his 'little pop punk band'
"Yeah, Andy but Andy is nice and very very good looking, but his nephew, oh god his nephew loved himself and all he done was talk about himself, he thought we were all dirt. I kinda wanted to stab him. He was gossiping about one of his friends he's worse than a girl." i explained huffing at the end, that guys Just angers me so much.
"see them guy's that's gossip, i call them half owlones. Watch out for them, they are dangerous." my grandfather warned, i started laughing really hard at him. Half of the time i don't think he knows what he's saying.
"Anyways how's Patrick?" my grandfather asked getting right to business,"has he been around?"
Although its hard to say Patrick hasn't been here the past few days. The last time i saw him was Wednesday in school and that's when he ditched me, its now Saturday. I don't think he knows how to keep promises because all he seems to do is break them.
"uh no, he hasn't." i said looking down at my mug of tea and picking at the chipping on the edge of the mug, i had that mug for years. One time i chipped whilst playing with it and ever since then i loved it because it was not like any of the other mugs.
"Do you know why?" he asked simply but with a hint of concern in his voice.
i shook my head at him, because being honest i don't know why he's been ditching me. It kinda hurts a bit.
"well let me tell you something," he says holding my hand,"sometimes when a guardian Angel is finding the task they have to do hard, so they may not be able be there everyday. They also may have gotten too attached and have to give you space so they cant miss you." my grandfather said in a very sincere way, holding my hand with a good grip.
"but um Patrick promised me he'd be around for me when i need him." i said quietly, Ducking my head down because right now im not making eye contact with my grandfather because his eyes are bulging out of their sockets with concern nearly.
"Look Zara, have you ever heard the saying promise's are made to be broken?" he asked, i nodded quickly and he continued,"well these things happen because its making you stronger sweetheart, I know its confusing especially at your age. I know your eighteen but your only starting the adult world now and you always said you never understood grown ups, As i was saying promises are made to be broken so that you can recognise your own strength, you understand me?"
i nod my head a bit, yeah i get it but.. "why does it hurt so much?" i asked, although that question was meant to be for my own head not my mouth. My mouth always runs
he nods his head in understanding and adjusts himself on the seat. "Its because you are discovering who you need in life and who you don't. Also your discovering new feelings for people and well we all know what your like when it comes to trusting people," he says, then sighs. "Also well when your father left you were heartbroken because well you were the apple of his eye and you were like two peas in a pod. That hurt you because of how attached you were and now that he was Leaving. What im saying is maybe you are sparking attachment to him and your finding it hard when he's not here because it feels like some thing is missing." My grandfather finishes guzzling down the end of his tea.
yeah i know what's missing: my heart.
i did not just say that.
"you just did." a voice says behind me. I turn behind me to see Patrick standing at the door with a sympathetic look on his face.
"Patrick i can explain.." i said before he shook his head at me and head for the door. I cant believe he heard that he was never meant to know. I was going to wait for it to all blow over.
i guess its too late
