Everyone had finally boarded the ship setting sail into the vast ocean. Bakugou as well as Kirishima had not spoken since their fight. Kirishima stayed by the bow while Bakugou stayed below helping organize the shipments. He didn't want to, but it took his mind off of Kirishima. He knew it was his own fault for not telling him the truth. But if he said it was for his sake it would look lame and the dragon would only tell him to not worry about it and proceed to the southern kingdom. He sighed resting his forehead in his hand.
"You ok?" A monotone voice asked.
Bakugou turned to see the Jirou woman behind him her face expressionless.
"I'm fine, shouldn't you be in the captains quarters?" He tried to put her off topic.
"I'm doing inventory. Kaminari is useless at this sort of thing." She shook her head. "But what about you? Shouldn't you be with your dragon?"
"We dont have to be together 24/7." He defended.
"So you had a fight." She nailed.
His sharp red eyes turned to her and his face fell into a snarl. He knew she was right but he hated when people could read him.
"Dont stay like this for too long. Theres still 3 days till we arrive at Midnight island." She reminded.
"Stay out of my business sea wench." He snipped.
"Yikes, now I can see who started it." She rolled her eyes before leaving him.
He was ready to fight back but stopped himself turning around in frustration. Again she was right, worrying about the dragon had made him more irritated then usual. He wanted everyone to get off his back, he was just trying to help the boy. But how would they know his intentions if he was just going to keep holding it in.
Up above Kirishima lay with his head over the edge of the ship watching the rushing ocean as it was cut by the swift ship. His heart was heavy as he racked his brain over why Bakugou would hide something from him, or what it was even about. He huffed a large sigh then felt a hand over his shoulder. He looked behind him hoping it was Bakugou only to see Froppy. When she saw the pain in his round eyes she walked around to the edge of the boat brushing her hand over his rough neck.
"I'm gonna take a guess and say this isn't just sea sickness you got here." She pointed out.
The dragon nodded his head placing it into her hands to be patted. It was slightly demeaning as it made him seem like a puppy but the touch of the gentle woman put him at ease.
"You and Bakugou kinda deal?" She asked.
Kirishima let out a long whine and rested his head over the edge again as the Rogue's face entered his mind.
"You two seem very close. You must have known each other for a long time."
Kirishima's eyes opened and he looked at her a little surprised before he shook his head no, they had only known eachother maybe a few weeks.
"No?" The young lady was also surprised. "But you act like brothers.... Or even partners."
He let out a few patterned whines but then stopped when he remembered she wouldn't be able to understand them.
"I'm sure whatever he did he'll make it right again."
The massive creature was about to say something back but then he felt danger. He jumped up and his ears pricked. Froppy backed away watching as a snarl crossed his lips and his skin began to harden and jut out like rocks. She looked over the waters to see a tattered boat in the distance. As Kirishima began to growl she knew what they were.
"Kaminari!" She called to the captain. "Pirates!"
Jirou and Bakugou came up from the lower decks as they heard the calls. Right away the men rushed to their stations and Kaminari called out orders.
"We can't fight them head on we have to hope we can catch a better wind!" He said.
"What do you mean we cant fight them we have a whole dragon on board?!" Bakugou reminded.
"40% of our shipment is gunpowder." Jirou said handing the man a rope. "Now help me loosen the sails a bit."
Bakugou did not argue for once but did exactly as Jirou and the crew instructed. Even Kirishima climbed up behind Kaminari and held onto the stern with his claws. Then he outstretched his bat like wings and in one fowl swoop clapped them together to create a strong wind to push the sails. A huge smile spread across Kaminari's face as the dragons thick wings pushed him into the wheel and he fought to keep his hat on. However beyond all their efforts it only seemed that the ship was getting closer.
"Kaminari, it's not working!" Jirou called to her captain.
"I can see that!" He began to sweat. "I guess prepare for a fight."
Bakugou rushed along side the men to help set up the cannons while Kirishima watched the ship closely as it neared. With his dragon eyes he could see much further then most humans. But what he saw upon the ship he did not like. The group of pirates all had an octopus like look to them. These pirates were famous among these waters and notorious for their tricks. Tsuyu came up beside the dragon and as the ship neared she recognized the pirates as well.
"Cap! Its Innsmouth's crew!" She called to him.
"Argh, not those slimy jerks!"
Kirishima backed up and spread out his wings. When Bokugou caught sight of it he yelled out knowing what he planned to do.
"Dont even think about it you stupid fucking dragon!"
Kirishima's large dark red eyes glared at Bakugou and without a second thought he lifted himself into the air. Bakugou bit down so hard he almost cut his cheek. He scaled the mast and ran across the beam of the sail and lept into the air gliding across the water before landing on the dragons hind quarters. He began to climb the red mountain to its head. Kirishima thought about throwing Bakugou back to the ship before he spoke.
"What the hell is going through your head pea brain?! You could get yourself killed! Why didnt you fucking take me with you?!"
Kirishima sighed shaking his head but couldn't hide that toothy grin. Bakugou perched himself in the spikes on Kirishima's neck and held onto his horns over looking the ship.
"Let's go fight some dumb ass pirates."
