Everything was so slow but so fast. One second that were kissing, the next they were under water, and Nico thought he heard Leo yell something about swimming..
When Nico came up, kicking hard because his clothes weighed him down, Leo was no where to be seen.
"No no no!" Nico couldn't see in the murky water and the street lanterns weren't helping much.
Then he saw bubbles coming from by the tipped gondola. He kicked as hard as he could in their direction then dove down reaching for Leo.
Nico got a hold of what felt like a sleeve and shadow traveled from beneath the surface of the water..

"Don't you dare fucking die on me, Leo!" Nico screeched at his unconscious fiance.
Then he desperately began giving him CPR, pushing air into his water-filled lungs, and pressing violently on his chest.
Nico went at a steady rhythm.
Push, press, breathe. Push, press, breathe. Push, press, breathe.
This went on for several minutes but Nico just would not give up.
12 minutes later Leo hadn't reacted once and Nico sobbed, giving up.
Nico prayed to Hades, and all gods of life and death to just not do this to him.
But this was it. Nico could practically feel his one true love leave the world.
And still unsure if motionless or trembling,
Holding his breath or hyperventilating,
Screaming or dead silent,
Because without him everything is bleak and quiet.
