I was watching Dan sleep after I arrived back from Ambriel's office. He seemed peaceful now that he was resting considering just how tired he was when I left.

It was hard to pay attention considering Ambriel now knew the dust was gone. If he figured it out I'd be dead. Literally. No matter how much he liked me the counsel would seriously hate me and there would be horrible repercussions. Not to mention I'd never be able to talk to Dan again, well until he dies. He seems like the kind of person who wouldn't be bound to earth and he'd live in the Capital.

And...forget about me.

He shifted in his sleep mumbling something and I glanced over at him. It reminded me of when I used the dust on him.

I'm meaning to ask him about what was in that dream.

"(y/n)." I looked over at him again, but he was still fast asleep. Was he dreaming about me? This made my face warm, the thought that I was on his mind.

I pictured Zach and his goons and after when Dan comforted me. He seemed to care about me, which was something new for me and it made my insides all warm. Not to mention I could touch him that one time. Maybe...maybe I was a thet.

My face scrunched in disgust at the thought of being one. And I can't be sure I like Dan. I mean...this is the first genuine friend I've had since I perished. Or when I was alive, not counting my best and only friend.

I was clearly letting my thoughts take over and my name from Dan's lips again caused me to leave the room.

This was crazy. Being Dan's friend after I was dead.

And now I'm way too attached to him and questioning my emotions.

I'm an idiot.

I noticed Phil was in the kitchen, munching on his cereal, or rather Dan's box of cereal. He seemed rather content with the breakfast. It must be nice being Dan's friend in real life. Being able to do so many things I can't. I studied him for a minute before he looked up from the bowl, staring right at me rather than through me. His eyes were wide with fear and his breathing stopped. The bowl slipped from his fingers, letting the little bit of cereal spill onto the floor with a crash of the bowl and spoon. I looked down suddenly realizing that in my focused state, I was on my way to being materialized and that he could most definitely see me.

"DAN!" he screamed and I quickly disappeared, nervous and my heartbeat viciously pounding. Dan came stumbling into the kitchen, half away while Phil searched frantically through the space around me to be able to see me again.

"What the f--"

"Ghost." Phil said. Dan stopped in the middle of his curse, finally noticing I was there too.

"What?"

"I saw a ghost. I'm not kidding. I'm 100% serious." he confessed. Dan seemed flustered and I face palmed at my ridiculous mistake.

"Well where is it Phil?" he asked.

"I don't know. It was somewhere over here." he said, his hand passing through my body. Dan looked at me and I smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry, it was an accident." I said. Phil waited impatiently for Dan to say something.

"Well?! I told you this flat was haunted!!" Phil said.

"What do you want me to call the ghostbusters?" he asked and I widened my eyes in fear.

"No, but--"

"Phil, if there was a ghost here, would you really freak out that much." Dan said.

"Uh yeah!!"

"But like what if it was nice??" he asked

"What?!"

"If there was a friendly ghost here, would you like mind?" Dan asked.

"What does this have to do with anything?!"

"Just answer."

"I don't know! No?"

"I mean, when you think about it, it's kind of cool." Dan said.

"Yeah...I guess?"

"So you'd be cool?"

"I mean, I'd freak out for a while, but I guess yeah." he said. I looked at Dan like he was crazy.

"Okay, so you're okay?"

"Yeah. That's kind of cool. We have a ghost." Phil said. "Hi ghost!" he said. I looked at Dan.

"Is he 5?" I asked. He shrugged.

"Are you trying to talk to her?" Dan asked.

"How did you know it was a girl?" Phil asked.

"I don't know, I guess I just figured it was a girl." he lied.

"Assuming a ghost's gender." Phil said and Dan groaned at the dead meme. "It's like a pet."

"She's not a dog Phil." Dan said.

"Well yeah, but." he stopped. "Hey ghost lady person." he called, "are you nice??" I glanced at Dan.

"How the hell am I supposed to answer?"

"Phil I'm sure she would've killed us already if she wasn't." Dan said.

"Wow, do you really think angels kill people??" I asked, he looked at me, silently telling me to quiet myself.

"Do you think she likes us?" Phil asked. Man, he really was sort of childish.

"Yes Phil, I'm sure she does." Dan replied. He had no idea. Dan disappeared back into his room and I paused, watching Phil swipe his hands through my torso. I floated to his side, smiling at his happy child-like nature. I gave him a pat on the shoulder and he jumped.

"Holy--" he stopped, holding his shoulder. "I have a ghost." he said, smiling. He began to clean up the spilled cereal and I headed back to Dan. He was sat on his bed, smirking at me.

"Well well ghost pet how are we this morning." he said. I deadpanned, rolling my eyes.

"Shut up." I rested on his dresser.

"Hey, would you ever tell Phil?" he asked. I looked at him.

"I'm not too sure." I said. The prospect of not being Dan's special secret was kind of disheartening. Not to mention how he would react if it actually happened, not something just hypothetical.

"Well, if you ever do, he's pretty weird. He'd handle it surprisingly good." Dan replied. I nodded.

"That reminds me, when you had that dream before you were able to see me, what did you see?" I asked. I noticed that he shifted awkwardly. "What?"

"Well, it was just you and your boyfriend in that crash." he said. I watched him curiously. "And then you in the hospital and you asked me why I didn't save you because I was there." he admitted. I nodded.

"Yeah, that was not a good day." I joked and he seemed to lighten up.

"I'm sorry he dragged you into the car like that." he said. "You really didn't deserve to die like that."

"That's okay. I guess I never would've met you if I hadn't died." I said. That put a smile on his face and I smiled too.

"True."

"GHOSTIE?" Phil called out, "LIKE GHOST BESTIE??" I let out a snort.

"You can 110% mess with him for being such a dork. Please do actually."

"I can arrange that." I joked and Dan smiled at me, butterflies fluttering in my stomach, something I hadn't felt in such a long time.
