I jumped and yanked away the hand from my shoulder. I whipped around and Dan was giving me an odd look. "Jeez you're jumpy," he commented and I let out a sigh of relief.
"Sorry."
"No you're fine, and I do mean fine," he said, grabbing me around the waist. Wait, what?
"What the hell are you talking about? Come on we have to go."
"No, come and dance," he said, draping himself on me. I grunted at his weight. Oh lord. He was reminding me of Spencer.
"Lets go dance to Phil, yeah?" He nodded and I managed to pull him towards a giddy looking Phil. What the hell happened? "Phil, lets go."
"5 more minutes! We're having fun!!" Phil bargained and I felt Dan smush his face in my neck to which I cringed.
"Phil, no, we need to leave now."
"No, I'm staying," he said, plopping in his chair. Dan was practically grinding on me now and I was near to exploding. What happened in the 5 minutes I was gone?
The Lotus. Of course it had this affect. I must have not noticed while I was under the influence. They were practically drunk. No. They WERE drunk.
"Please Phil? I promise that there's a better place!" I lied and he seemed to loosen up. "So much fun."
"Fine."
"Fine indeed," Dan commented. "Did I mention how much I love this dress?"
"Yes, but less creepy than now," I said. Who knew drunk Dan was so handsy and weird.
"God I love being able to touch you, it's like you're real." Now that one touched me in a way that made my throat small.
"Mmhmm," I hummed and dragged the 2 outside. Ambriel wasn't at all around and no one in the casino seemed to notice them. Man, that Lotus was pretty dangerous. I opened a door back to the apartment.
"Hey! You said somewhere fun!" Phil whined. God it was like he was a child.
"This is fun!" I managed to shove him inside, peeling handsy Dan off my torso. Hopefully this angel thing would wear off fast. Indeed it did and Phil rubbed at his eyes as his feet plopped gently on the carpet. Dan's hands went first and he passed through me with a whine. As much as I liked normal contact with Dan, handsy Dan was not as enjoyable. I'd still miss being able to be normal with them.
I pictured punching Phil as we laughed and Dan nearly falling on me when we won a game. We were clinging on each other with excitement. I sighed as Phil stumbled off into his room. I had no idea the effects of the Lotus on the living, but I assumed there would be some sort of hangover effect on them. I watched Phil's door shut and I turned to see Dan staring at me.
"What?"
"I wish I could hug you before I fully turn back," he slurred and I frowned, my face warm.
"Here," I said, pulling myself into his reality and wrapping my arms around his torso. He squeezed back, as if he were afraid to let go.
"God I love you," he mumbled. I froze and I pulled away, my figure fading. My body was practically glowing neon pink with embarrassment. He reminded me so much of Spencer. He stumbled off to his room and I slipped back into the angel's realm for a little longer. The Lotus' effects must really mess up live beings for him to say that right? I swallowed and walked along to the large Capital. Everyone would be out and about or sleeping, but the Capital was always running.
There was a large section open to the public at all times. It was its own wing, small files that contained an angel's memories from when they were alive. This was my second time visiting, the first being after the news of my father's disappearance in the dark space. I spent practically all day in here staring at the picture perfect frames of me and my family, specifically the ones with my father.
