dodies music seems to fit this story well
I had spent the whole day pondering why Ambriel had always taken such a liking to me. He is always busy, but whenever I need him, he's there in a heartbeat. It's an odd sort of thing, just like my mom used to do. I shrugged off the memory of he focusing in on my surroundings.
I was sitting on top of Dan's dresser again, I don't know why but I had taken a liking to this spot. It may sound weird, but I enjoyed watching Dan work at his desk. He always did interesting things, like for one, once he used some office supplies, and made a dinosaur out of them. Even if he was just looking at cat pictures he was fun to watch.
"I think I should record a video." Dan said to himself, standing up to get his camera.
I decide I might leave him alone, because if he can feel me I don't want to disturb him making videos.
I drifted out the window, to find it was raining. I've always loved the rain, it calmed me in a way. I used to walk outside with my pale yellow rain boots and matching coat. I would let the miniscule drops of water bounce off my face. I would run around in puddles, and bring the old family dog out with me, though he died when I was 8. I miss him.
But now since I'm dead, rain passes right through me, like small spears of melancholy piercing my ghostly skin.
I float down the street, it was very busy even though it was pouring out. I drifted passed so many familiar places, the cafe, the ice cream shop, even the small toy store was still there. I used to love going there and buying packs of Pokémon cards.
I continued down the street until it got to the spot where the shops stopped, and the small houses started.
I found my childhood home, and right across the street from it was the cemetery, I decided to go into it. When I was a teenager, I would come here and leave a different type of flower on my dad's grave everyday. I felt my eyes start to prickle at the thought of my father.
I just tried to ignore the mournful feeling I had. I continued through the cemetery, each gravestone casting a fuzzy shadow behind it. The area was overcast with vegetation, soft gray beams of light illuminating the carpeted grass through the cracks in the makeshift ceiling. There was a dripping of rain and dew falling from the leaves. I brushed a hand through the thick grass, silently wishing I had feeling in my finger tips. There was a fogged mist that filled the air, giving an eerie look to the whole place, besides the fact it's a graveyard. I came upon the fresh, grainy tombstone I had come to know so well. I materialized my fingers, brushing them over the lettering.
'Here lies (y/n) (l/n), May she rest in peace'
I scoffed, if only they could understand me now. I stood looking at the grave for sometime, before deciding to float down to see myself. I glanced over at my dominant hand, to see it looked like all the bones were smashed. I was kind of disgusted at the sight of the crippled hand, and decided to move onto my face.
My face seemed quite normal, with additional cuts and bruises littering my complexion. I felt my heart burn a the sight of myself, pale and broken.
I quickly float up out of the grave. When I got out, I materialized and picked up one of the bunches of flowers on top of my tomb.
I drift over to where I remember my dad's grave being. I place the bouquet of bright flowers, which contrasted with the atmosphere of the whole place.
I bring my hand back into my reality. I lingered above his grave for a few seconds.
"Goodbye." I murmured, before turning around and heading back to Dan and Phil.
I flew up to the window of Dan"s room, and went in. I didn't see him in there, so I went into the hall.
"Yeah, I wouldn't wanna go like that." I hear Dan's voice say. Was he talking about me?
"I hope she had a good life before she, you know, died." Phil responded. Yup, talking about me. I float over and sit on the couch, same as last time.
I saw Dan kinda shift in his seat, he must have felt me enter.
"Are you alright Dan? You seem a little uneasy." Phil said, moving his gaze away from the TV and to Dan.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. I think I might go to my room though." he stood up in a hurry, and went to his room. I followed slowly behind.
I entered his room, and saw him sitting on his bed, he was holding his knees.
"(y/n) if you are here, please give me a sign, I just want to know if I'm going insane or not." he said, facing my direction. I was a little scared. He obviously couldn't see me, but he always 'looked' at me.
I just stood there, silent.
I had no idea what to do. A part of me wanted to do something, but the other part didn't.
"Please." he whispered, leaning on the foot of the bed, waiting to spring up if needed. I felt my heart pound as I glanced around the room. Should I? I took a deep breath and hurried to the lamp on his bedside table. It's risky, but he shouldn't see my hand. I materialized and hovered my hand over the switch.
You can do this (y/n).
I exhaled, flicked the switch, and brought my hand back. His head snapped around, staring at the soft glow, eyes wide.
"Holy shit." he breathed. He stood, hesitant to approach the lamp. "There's no way." he said, watching for it to do something else. I didn't move, holding my breath. He approached, waving his hand around the lamp's side and over to me. His hand passed through my stomach and I stared at him for a few moments.
"No way. No way at all." he said, backing away. "There's no such thing as ghosts. The power just surged at a coincidental time. It's fine." he said. I grumbled. Why would he ask if he wasn't going to believe it?
"Dan you've got to stop talking to yourself." Phil said, wandering into the room.
"Uh, yeah the power just spooked me." Dan explained. Okay, now I wanted to smack him. I want to actually materialize my hand just to hit him.
"Remember Dan, we have the YouTube event coming up this weekend. Did you remember your tux?" Phil asked. Dan nodded, gesturing to the wardrobe.
"Picked it up a while ago." he said. And with that, everything returned to normal, as if me turning on the light never happened.
"Ok, good. Just checking." Phil said. "Now I suggest a movie marathon.""Yeah sure." Dan said, "I'll catch up with you in a bit." he shuffled around for a moment before approaching the lamp again. He glanced around, resting his hand on the switch. He flipped it off and left, leaving me, alone, in total darkness.
