"Take it easy," Hanna said, holding me by the elbow. "It's too early for a marathon."
"I can't help it. I'm just so happy to finally be outside."
Hanna walked me around the castle, keeping her arm around me. Honestly, I wasn't as weak as everyone was acting. The amount of effort it took to get everyone to let me walk, eat, or breathe on my own was getting frustrating.
"Are you sure you're up for this?" Hanna asked.
"Yes, more than anything. I can't stare at that ceiling anymore."
"It's not like you didn't have someone to stare at it with." She nudged me.
Blood rushed to my face. "What are you talking about?"
She rolled her eyes at me. "Come on, girl. Don't play dumb. Jimin. He's been fawning over you, doting on you... making all of us kind of nauseous, really. You should have seen the day you were shot. He was wrecked. Absolutely wrecked."
My heart sank and fluttered at the same time.
"So? Did he say he loved you yet?"
I thought about it. "No. But I haven't either. I don't know if we're there yet."
"Just because you haven't said it doesn't mean it's not there," she replied. "You can love someone without saying it."
There was a breathy sigh in her words.
"Hanna, you okay?"
She seemed to snap out of whatever she was thinking about. "Hmm? Yeah. Fine. Why?"
"You've been acting a little distant this week."
"Ah, well. There's a lot going on, I guess."
I smiled as she held her arms around me. I squeezed her from the side, in the best hug I could. "I want you to find a good guy, Hanna. I think you deserve it. Any guy you want, you should have."
She stopped to look at me. "Do you... mean that?"
I nodded. "Of course, why wouldn't I?"
"Well..."
She stopped at the sound of a voice shouting behind us.
"You can't do this! Wait!"
We stopped and turned to see a swarm of guards surrounding Priest Lee, leading him right towards us. Sydney walked in front of them, stone-faced, staring right past us. She continued on, not even looking at us.
"Jimin," I called. "What happened?"
"Sydney's arresting the pastor. She thinks he shot you."
I looked over my shoulder at them. "What? Is she crazy?"
I started to walk after her, but pain shot through my side before I had a chance to get too far. Hanna grabbed me again from behind, pulling me back.
"Whoa, you're not in the condition to go after anyone now."
"But we have to do something about this! Priest Lee has nothing to do with it!"
Jimin put his hands on my shoulders. "I'll take care of it. I promise."
He pecked my forehead before rushing after them.
"Y/N!"
I froze at the sound of my father's voice. Hanna's fingers dug into me.
"Y/N," he said again, approaching us. "I'm sending for my men to pack your things. You're coming home with me. Today."
I swallowed. I wasn't going back there. I couldn't.
I shook my head at him. "You can't be serious."
"Have I ever said something I didn't mean?"
Hanna moved herself between us. "You can't take Y/N wherever you want, whenever you please, Uncle Martin."
"I can do whatever the hell I want," he replied. "She's my daughter."
"She's not a child. And she's not going with you. Not if I have anything to say about it."
He laughed. "And just what do you think you can do about it?"
"Come at me and find out."
She squared her shoulders at him. His eyes darkened.
"Stupid girl. Don't test me."
He raised his hand.
But he didn't get to bring it down.
A blur stepped between us, knocking my father back. Hanna grabbed my arms and pulled me to the side, sitting me down against a bench. It was then that I got to see what knocked my father back.
Jungkook.
"If I see you raise that hand again," he growled, "I'll rip it off."
He punched Father in the face, knocking him further back.
"Jungkook!" Hanna said, rushing to him. She tugged on his arm. "Don't."
He ripped out of her hold, and pushed her behind him. He stood in front of her as Father steadied himself. She gripped onto the sleeve of his shirt.
Father put his hand to his face, wincing. "What the hell is wrong with this family? You think you can get away with hitting me?"
Jungkook curled his lip. "Trust me, I'll hit you 'til you can't raise that hand again."
He started at my father again, but Hanna pulled him back.
"Had I known that I'd be signing my daughter over to such a mentally unstable group of people, I never would have done it. This marriage was a mistake from the beginning."
He stepped forward towards Jungkook. Hanna tried to step in front of him, but Jungkook pulled her back again and forced her behind him.
"I'm pulling the plug on this," Father said. "Consider this marriage over."
