Just in case you were wondering, yes, it does hurt when your hand gets shot with an arrow. Even though I quickly cast a healing spell as we walked to the infermary tent, it was nearly unbearable when they removed the barbed arrow.
After giving me a pain-killer, the healers left me in the tent. I was alone, except one injured Roman. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.
It felt kik I had been asleep for five minutes when someone poked my face.
"what the-" I objected, my eyes snapping open.
"Shut up!" someone hissed. Lukas.
"What time is it?" I hissed.
"You've been asleep for an hour. It's seven right now," Lukas whispered in my ear. "We are getting you out of here. You still have your armor on?"
I nodded silently. "Good," he breathed. I climbed out of the cot, wary of my hand.
"Why are we leaving?" I demanded under my breath.
"Because otherwise they'll kill you." Lukas handed my my sword and two knives. I clipped on my sword and slid the knives into my boots.
Lukas gestured for me to follow him. He was also equipped for war, his sword on his right hip and two knives in a double scabbard on his left. I knew that he probably had more weapons hidden on his person. A large black backpack was on his back, presumably with more weapons and food.
Silently, we crept out of the tent.
"Remember," Lukas murmured almost inadaubly. "Stay as quiet as possible."

"Are you sure that you have a plan?" I hollered.
Lukas didn't reply as he hacked at the huge scorpion. I stood at his back, struggling to fight with my left hand.
"Duck!" he yelled suddenly. Without any hesitation, I fell to the ground. His sword whistled over my head. I heard a screech from the scorpion I was fighting, and then dust rained on me. I guessed that Lukas had killed it.
Lukas grabbed my arm to haul me up. "Run!"
Together, we ran through the forest.
We ha escaped the Roman camp without too much of a problem, but we had gone into a monster-infested forest. Unfortunately, the massive scorpions weren't the only thing we had faced that night. It was dark now, and we were running by the light of the moon and a flashlight that I held.
"So what now?" I panted after we had run a sufficient distance for the pack of giant scorpions.
"Now," he answered, "we are going to find the greeks."
"What?" I demanded. "I thought you were going to fight them!"
"The Romans believe that the Greeks are to blame, but I don't. There is no way we can fight Gaea alone. With the Greeks an our different gods, we might have a chance."
"The Romans said that the Greeks would kill us."
Lukas scanned the area around us, sword in hand. "It's not about the Greeks, the Romans, the gods, or even your Egyptians." I blinked in surprise but Lukas continued, "It's not about any of us. It is about the mortals. They never did anything, and they, of all people, don't deserve Gaea's vengeance. Gods know that many demigods deserve it, and even more of the gods. But the mortals never did anything but damage the planet and have demigod children."
Abruptly, Lukas lunged and stabbed a small, three headed snake that was slithering towards us. I wondered at his vigelence. I hadn't noticed te small, but undoubtedly poisonous creature.
"We should keep moving," Lukas announced.
"Let's meet these Greeks," I agreed.
We began our march again, after Likas produced a bottle of water that we shared.
"Will the Romans chase us?" I asked and we hiked.
"Dubious. Octavian will be just burning with fury, Heather will be questioned, she will proclaim her innocence, and they might send one or two people out. But thy won't deprive themselves of too many soldiers. They are preparing for war, after all."
Heather! I had forgotten about her. "Will she be alright?"
"Heather will be fine." Suddenly, Lukas stiffened. "We have company."
