Run

I couldn't see. I couldn't hear. I couldn't smell. I couldn't feel. I couldn't speak. All of my senses were gone. I didn't know where I was and I didn't know if I was awake or asleep. I didn't know if I was standing, or sitting, or lying down. I couldn't even tell if I was breathing.

I just was. I just existed.

Then... Laughter. Creepy, menacing, insane laughter surrounded me. It engulfed everything I was. It was all I could hear and all I could focus on. It began to crescendo into booming hysteria. It sounded faguely feminine, but I couldn't tell.

Then it stopped. And the nothingness returned.

This is what awaits you. This is the only thing that awaits you. Run, while you still can, the voice hissed. Again, it was the only thing I could hear. It was the only thing in this abandoned place.

Where was I? Who am I?

This is what awaits you. This is the only thing that awaits you. Run, while you still can, the voice repeated.

It echoed, gradually getting louder. Then the unknown speaket began to laugh, but the voice kept talking.

This is what awaits you. This is the only thing that awaits you. Run, while you still can. This is what awaits you. This is the only thing that awaits you. Run, while you still can.

Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run.

And it engulfed me. It became me. I could no longer knew my name. I didn't know who I was. I didn't know how old I was, or what I looked like, or what I liked to do. That word--run--it became me. That was all I was, and it was the only thing that anything else was.

Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run.

Abruptly, the darkness and the voices disappeared and a searing light perpetrated my vision. Pictures of when Hestia was being tortured flashed, desturbing the pure white.

"Run, Thella! It isn't safe!" Hestia's voice screamed. "Don't trust them!"

Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run.

I opened my mouth to cry out, but my vocal chords wouldn't move. I couldn't feel if I had a body.

Instead, the whiteness transformed into the makeshift Roman camp. The ghosts--sorry, Lares--were flickering in and out of visibility. The armory was in flames. All of the campers were standing but appeared... frozen. Paralysed. Except their eyes were wide with the purest form of terror and constantly moving. Reyna, unlike the other Romans, was curled into a fetal position and screaming.

Screaming.

Run.

Screaming.

Run.

Screaming.

Run.

Screaming.

Run.

Screaming.

Run.

Screaming....

And my eyes snapped open.

A boy's worried and frightened face was the first thing I saw. He was handsome, I supposed, but my head hardly registered his close-cropped black hair, or his hard brown eyes that were clouded with concern, or his black, scarred skin.

Run.

I shoved the boy away, and scrambled to my feet, ignoring the scratches from the bush I had been resting in.

Run.

The tall black boy glanced and a young child--perhaps six--at his side. "Tyde, go into the cave, now." Without question, the little boy dashed into a cave that was a little ways away from us.

Run.

The older one stepped near me and opened his mouth to speak.

And I took off like a startled hare.

Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run.

Run.

"Thella!" the boy yelled, and began to chase me.

Disregarding any injuries caused by the plants in the forest I was fleeing in, I pushed my legs faster. I was weaponless, I noticed, other than a few hidden daggers and four knives tucked in my person.

Run.

And I ran.

I told you stuff was about to go down ;)
Who do you think the voice was? Why was Thella running? Who can she trust? Lemme know your theories.

Also, sorry for taking forever. I say this for, like, every chapter I write, but seriously. Thanks for sticking through it and putting up with my spastic updates.
In other news, happy #BlackOut!!!! Whooo!!!!

Again, thanks for reading! I'll see y'all the next time I update, which probably won't be for a while since I have procrastination issues... Sorry.

Sorry for any typos. It's hard to type coherently on my phone :P
