-nineteen-

      Wednesday July 10th.

I lay on the hospital bed hearing all the machines beeping. Daniel is sitting next to me holding my hand mumbling to himself. I open my eyes even more and look up at him.
"Daniel?" I say and he looks at me. His eyes are watery.
"You scared the crap out of me." He says and hugs me. I hug him back and feel a sudden pain in my leg.
I look down at it and see a giant cut from my knee and up my thigh.

"What happened?" I ask him. He smiles at me.
"You got hit by a car when you skated. The license plate fell off and cut your leg open." He says and I swallow the lump in my throat.
"Wow.." I say and take a deep breathe.
"But you're ok!" He says and squeeze my hand 3 times again. I look at him and smile. He smile back and Anna and Angi enters the room. Daniel let's go of my hand and I look at them. Anna hugs me and Angi smiles at me.

"How are you feeling?" Anna asks me. I smile at her and shake my head chuckling.
"I'm good, I just hate hospitals." I say and look at Angi and Daniel who're talking. I look back at Anna and smile, she looks at me like she feels sorry for me. A chuckle escapes my mouth and they all look at me.
"What?" Anna asks me. I just shake my head and throw the cover off of me.
"When can I get out of here?" I say and put my feet on the side of the bed. Daniel runs over to my side and helps me stand.

"Where are you going?" He asks me as he holds me up. I look at him and smile.
"I need to use the bathroom. And can someone tell me when I can get home." I say and Daniel helps me walk over to the bathroom.
"You can leave whenever you want." Daniel says and leaves me in the bathroom. When he's about to close the door I stop him.
"Daniel-" I say and he looks back at me.
"Thank you" I say and he smiles at me and close the door.

I use the bathroom and walk out jumping on one leg. Daniel runs up to me again and helps me sit down on the bed. Angi smiles at me. Anna and Daniel leaves the room to talk to a nurse. Angi and I smile at each other.
"It's crazy." She says. I wrinkle my forehead.
"The crash?" I ask her. She giggles and shakes her head.
"How in love Daniel is with you, how long have you been dating?" She says making me laugh. I shake my head.
"We're not dating, and I wouldn't be so sure about that." I say. She smiles at me.

"I've been best friend with Daniel for a long time, if he likes someone as something more then a friend. Trust me I know." She says. I swallow and look at Daniel and Anna. I get eye contact with Daniel and smile at him, he smiles back.
"And you're in love with him too I can see." She adds and I look back at her and chuckle. I shake my head and she grins at me.
"Girl, it's ok. I saw how you looked at us before. We're nothing but friends. He's like a brother to me!" She says and I smile. Daniel and Anna enters the room and sits down on some chairs.

"What were you talking about?" They ask us. We shake our heads and smile.
"Just getting to know each other." Angi says and I smile at her. Daniel and I get eye contact and I smile at him too.
"Well the nurse says you can leave now if you want to. We just have to clean your cut every night, otherwise you can live normally.. or without skating and surfing." Anna says and smiles at me. I smile back and hop down from the bed. Daniel once again help me walk and we walk out of the hospital and into the car.

He puts me down in the passenger seat and sits down into the drivers seat. I smile at him as he starts the engine. Angi and Anna are sitting in the back. I pick up my phone and see all the notifications.
"Daniel did you post anything about me getting hurt?" I ask him and show him all the "get well soon" notifications. He smiles at me and looks back at the road. I enter Instagram and look at his story. It's a picture of him holding my hands while I'm laying in the hospital bed.
"Pray for my best friend to get well soon!" The caption says and I smile. I put down my phone and look at the view of Portland.

Daniel Parks the car and I start to walk inside on one leg. As you already can imagine Daniel helps me. I sit down on the sofa and look at the clock. It's 9:24 PM.
"Wait how long did we drive?" I ask them.
"3 hours. It was the closest hospital." Daniel says and my mouth drop in shock.
"Wow." I say as my stomach growls. Anna hugs me and says goodnight. Angi is leaving and I hug her goodbye. Her and Daniel hug and he walks her out.

He enters the house again and looks at me.
"Are you hungry?" He asks me. I nod and he helps me to the kitchen. I sit on one of the kitchen stools and Daniel takes out the cheese and macaroni.
"I'll make you Mac & Cheese if that's good?" He asks me. I nod and he starts making it.
"Aren't you tired?" I ask him. He chuckles and shake his head.
"I got a lot of adrenaline, I thought the one person I cant live without... was leaving me." He says and I look up at him in shock. Did he just say that.
"I won't leave you again.." I say and look down at my hands. Daniel walks up to me and hugs me.

Our faces are inches away from each other. I look into his eyes and he slowly moves closer.
The door opens and Angi comes running inside.
"I forgot my purse-" she says but stops when she sees us. Daniel takes a few steps away and goes back to the stove. I scratch my neck and she chuckles.
"Sorry-" she says and giggles and walks out again. I shake my head and smile at her in embarrassment.

Daniel and I eat and then goes to bed. At first he said he didn't want to sleep next to me, Incase he was going to touch my leg or something. But I said I'd rather have him hurt my leg then sleep alone.
I get under the covers and so does Daniel. We lay with our backs facing each other. I feel his hand grabbing mine. I slowly drift to sleep.
