I looked at Mark seriously and took a deep breath before I started speaking. I wasn't really sure the way in which I was gonna tell him all that, but I thought it was better not to think and just let the words come out of my mouth.

"Okay... this--- this may sound kinda weird okay? But you gotta believe me when I say that I'm a person who doesn't ever lie..." I trailed off nervously as I wished I hadn't started speaking.

"Alright..." Mark nodded and sat comfortably on the couch with one arm on the arm-rest and a leg half crossed over the other. He was frowning and his attitude showed me that he was going to take seriously every word I said.

"Well... I assume you've recognized Liz already, haven't you? I mean... my sister surely introduced you two..."

"Actually..." he frowned and lowered her head a bit, thinking "Her face looks familiar... But I'm not quite sure whether Angie introduced us or not to be honest---"

"Yeah, she did..." Liz said as she walked into the living room carrying her hot-water bottle with her, holding it firmly in her arms. As soon as I saw her I thought that what she was doing wasn't charming at all.

"Who's gonna use that?" I questioned Liz as I pointed at it with my chin.

"I will..." Liz twitched her mouth "I'm going to bed... I don't feel quite well" Liz took her hand to her chest and sniffed.

"Oh no... what's wrong hun? You want me to take you to the doctor or something?" I asked concerned about her health.

"No, I'm okay... I think it's just flu... I'm gonna go watch a movie with my favourite friend - after you that is - the hot-water bottle," she said amusingly as she walked up the stairs, moment in which I saw a packet of Doritos hidden under the hot-water bottle "By the way... dinner's in the kitchen... Goodnight." she added and disappeared behind her bedroom door after she'd walked to the end of the hall.

As I watched her silently walking up the stairs I wondered how true was what she'd said. She didn't look as if she was ill. I knew that her mood wasn't so charming when she had a flu - how wouldn't I know that if I had been the one who took care of her whenever Howard worked late?

"So, you were saying...?" Mark called my attention.

"Oh... ermmm... I was--- asking if you and Liz---" I trailed off and stared at Mark - it had taken me a couple of extra seconds, but I had finally understood Liz's hint.

"Aimee, you okay?"

"Yeh..." I nodded and looked away from him before breathing deep once more to call his name afterward "Mark?"

"Tell me..."

"You--- hungry?"

"Ermmm... Wh--- what do you mean?"

"Dinner's ready and Liz's not eating..."
