The corner table underneath the vintage lamp was theirs. The table top was now scratched and worn, the wood grain stripped off its white paint, with watermarks from coaster~less glasses of cold juice and coffee stains marking its surface. Jennie runs her fingers against it, the memories flooding her now empty mind.

They met on this corner table, back when neither of them knew love existed inside a rundown coffee shop. Jennie was looking at her, with hands wrapped around a paper coffee cup, her caramel brown eyes intently staring at her. She stared back, but her gaze was so unnerving yet it seemed that she could never look away.
"Is anybody seated here?"She asked pointing at the empty seat before her. She shook her head, her hair falling like a curtain over her face"I hope you don't mind"
"No,"she whispered, her voice sounding like fluttering bells. She took a sip of her coffee, eyeing her carefully."I'm Jennie."
"Lisa,"she replied, tipping her head down."Sorry if i'm intruding."
"Oh, not at all,"she said smiling at her."Your not intruding."
Her heart though, felt differently.
~~~~
She fell inlove with the girl who drank black coffee in paper cups, the one who made silly jokes and the one who is cute everytime she smiled. They always met at this corner table, the one underneath the vintage lamp that glowed golden in the setting afternoon.
She asked her once if she believed in love at first sight.
"Why?"she replied, with eyebrows quirked in question, her cherry-pink lips pursed together. She shrugged, drinking the last of her now cold coffee."But to answer your question, yes, i do believe in love at first sight."
"Have you ever felt it. For you to believe in it?"
She chewed her lip shyly.
"Maybe.Why? Do you believe in love at first sight?""Yes. With you"
Jennie blinked, her eyes wide as she stood up and smiled, leaving her alone in their corner table.
~~~~
She fell inlove with her tenacity. Never has she met a girl who declared her love so quickly, her heart is open like her. They met time and time again in this corner table, the one where they've scratched the surface, much like the long discussions they've shared together.
"Would it scare you, if i told you i've fallen inlove with you?"
And she laughed, like a gentle rain falling from the sky. Jennie stared at her incredulously, pouting as she does so.
"It took you long enough," she said, holding out a hand for her."I've fallen inlove with you, the moment i sat on this empty chair Jennie."
"That's funny,"she whispered chortling softly."No one falls inlove that fast."
"Why not? Not everyone falls inlove the same way."
They sat at that corner table, where they found love inside a rundown coffee shop.
~~~~
She sat there waiting for her, in that corner table of the coffee shop. The vintage lamp has grown dim and the sky has gone dark but she never came and the coffee she ordered for her has grown cold. She sat there waiting....waiting....and waiting for the girl who used to sit on the empty chair in front of her.
"Where are you?"She asked, looking bleakly at the empty seat before her. She gasped in surprise when a man came running down from the street, screaming for her.
"IS THERE ANYONE HERE NAMED JENNIE KIM??"He bellowed, his breathing hard and heavy. She stood up and raised her hand, wondering what he was yelling about."Oh! There is--this girl, she says her name is Lisa--"
"What about her?"
"There was a truck, and a car...and....Miss, i think you might just want to come with me.."
She ran after the burly man, tears falling when he ran to the middle of the street. She found Lisa on the ground, with flowers in her hand and blood stained skin, her eyes struggling to stay open. Jennie fell down to her knees and Lisa smiled weakly as she tried her best to look at Jennie.
"Sorry if i kept y-you w-waiting,"she mumbled shakingly lifting her clasped hand."A-i-i h-have s-something for you"
Jennie opened Lisa's fist and a tiny ring glittered against her palm, red and stained with blood. Lisa was supposed to propose to her in their corner table, the one where she first sat on the empty chair and the one where they fall in love with each other
"I-i love you so m-much Jennie"she murmured and she closed her eyes before Jennie could even say good bye.
The corner table underneath the vintage lamp was theirs, The table top was now scratched and worn, the wood grain stripped off of its paint, with watermarks from coaster-less glasses of cold juice and coffee stains marking its surface. Jennie stared at the empty chairs and at the empty table, the one she used to share with her.
The corner table was now empty, the chairs left unoccupied except for the memory of a love that was now gone.
