(THEY SAID 'I LOVE YOU' IN CHAPTER 18 BUT LET'S JUST PRETEND SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM AND THOUGHT HE WAS JUST TRYING TO COMFORT HER BECAUSE I SUCK AND FORGOT AND I'M SORRY BYE)
The double date was incredibly boring, Sam and Charlotte were still in the 'new couple stage,' which was annoying. I mean, Sam was one of my best friends, and I loved him and wanted him to be happy, but God, I had no idea he could be so... "lovey." It was weird, and even though the food was amazing, Dean and I had agreed double dates were not our thing.
Neither Dean nor Sam would tell me anything about the Supernatural books, so I took matters into my own hands and read them- all of them. The stories Dean and Sam had told us were the cleaned up versions of the real ones, because what I read was a lot worse than what they had explained. When I had finished most of the books, I asked the Winchester brothers again if the things in the books really happened to them.
"I already told you," Sam said. "Yes."
Dean just bit his lip, and though I never asked and he never told, I assumed it was because he was lucky with the ladies in the books, and actually got lucky a few times in the series.
"So now can you see why being a hunter sucks?" Sam asked when Dean didn't say anything.
I just laughed, because even though a lot of the cases they worked did seem to suck, their family moments seemed to be worth it.
A few hours after I asked them about Supernatual, they volunteered to get us dinner, and I decided to stay home while they went out. I sat on the couch in my sweats and an oversized sweatshirt, reading the series about Sam and Dean's lives.
Shortly after they left, Castiel appeared in my living room, which startled me.
"Castiel!" I gasped. He just nodded. "You scared me half to death!"
Castiel cocked his head to the side. "You weren't dying."
I let out a breathy laugh, waiting for my heart beat to slow down. "It's an expression, Castiel."
He nodded again. "Where are Dean and Sam?"
"Out. Getting dinner. Why, what's up?"
Castiel didn't answer me, and averted his eyes, which instantly made me want to know whatever he was keeping from me.
"What is it?" I asked after he didn't answer.
"I- You don't need to worry about it."
"Castiel," I rolled my eyes. "Tell me."
Castiel hesitated, seemingly trying to figure out if he could trust me. "You can't tell Sam or Dean."
I felt my eyebrows come together, confused. "Okay..." I trailed off.
"You could be in danger, now. From what research I have been able to do about the abomination hunting Dean, one patter appears regularly. It doesn't hunt often, but when it does, it commits a few careless murders before attacking its prey."
"I'm not its prey?" I said, the statement sounding more like a question.
"At times, if the prey is onto them, they go for a weaker link, but still someone their victim loves."
I felt my heart skip a beat at the word. "Okay, but wouldn't they go for Sam? Besides, Dean doesn't-"
The front door opened, and Castiel and I both turned to see who was entering the house. When I looked back, Castiel was gone.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I kept Castiel's words in mind, but didn't mull over them too much. He said the creature would go after someone Dean loves to get to him, but Dean didn't love me. Right? I mean, he hadn't said anything... But then again, neither had I, and I did love Dean.
