One of your friends is not to be trusted.

One of your friends is not to be trusted.

One of your friends is not to be trusted.

The words ran through my head, playing themselves over and over and over again. I felt like I was going to be sick. What did he mean one of them wasn't to be trusted? We were all working so closely together to keep Dean safe... Could one of them really be plotting against us?

"What do you mean, 'one of your friends is not to be trusted'?" I asked Joshua, hoping he would explain more.

He didn't. He simply shrugged and said, "One of your friends is not to be trusted."

"No, no you have to be able to tell me more than that. That can't be all you can tell me!"

Joshua gave me a sympathetic look before looking at Castiel. "I'm afraid I can't help you any more than that."

I was suddenly angry, extremely angry, and I could tell why Dean hated angels so much. "No. No that's bullshit, you have to be able to tell me more."

Castiel stepped forward, putting a hand on my shoulder and giving me a warning look. "Marilyn-"

"No!" I shoved him away. "That can't be it!"

"Marilyn, I'm so sorry, but I can't tell you anymore. God won't tell me anything else."

A few things ran through my head, all of which I wanted to spit at Joshua, and all of which I was almost certain would get me sent to hell when I died if I said them in Heaven. My anger left as quickly as it had come, and I was suddenly exhausted, and wanted nothing more than to sleep.

"I- I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have-"

Joshua stepped forward, putting a hand on my shoulder, a comforting gesture. "I understand. It didn't anger me, believe me, I wish I had more to tell you than I can."

I nodded, trying to calm myself. "I'm sorry."

Joshua nodded once, his smile still on his face. "Child, it's okay."

I turned to Castiel. "Take me home?" I asked, my voice a whisper. He nodded, letting me hold on to his arm again. This time, however, it was for support. I turned to Joshua, my eyes on the ground. "Thank you," I said, not looking up at him. "And- And I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I understand."

I finally looked up at him, giving him a small smile.

Castiel put his hand on top of mine, which was still on his arm, and nodded at Joshua. "Thank you, brother."

And then we were back in my room.

I sat on my bed immediately, trying to sort through my thoughts.

I had expected Castiel to leave, but he didn't, he stayed in my room, looking at me with worried eyes.

"Marilyn." he said after a few minutes of silence.

"Hm?" I mumbled quietly.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help you more."

I suddenly stood up, turning to face him. "How do we know he wasn't lying? Other angels screwed with me, so why wouldn't he? Maybe-" my voice was getting louder with every word, and I felt insane.

"Marilyn." Castiel cut me off. "He wasn't lying to you. Joshua is one angel that is easy to read, and he told you everything he could."

"But-!"

"No, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, there isn't any 'but's here. I'm sorry."

I sat back on my bed, putting my head in my hands. "What are we going to do?"

I looked up when I heard a knock on my door. Castiel was gone, nowhere in sight. I sighed, standing up to answer the door.

"Are you okay?" Dean asked before my door was fully opened. He had changed into sweats, but I could tell him and Sam were still awake, as I could hear the tv on downstairs and Sam shuffling around in the kitchen.

"Yeah," I said, a fake smile on my face.

Dean looked at me questioningly. "I heard yelling."

"No, I was just..." I said the first thing that came to mind. "I had a nightmare."

He looked behind me, and I could tell he was looking at my bed.

Crap, I thought. My bed's made.

But Dean didn't question me. "It must've been bad. Do you want to talk about it?"

"No," I said quickly. "I'm tired and I still don't feel to good."

"Okay," Dean sighed, leaning in to kiss my forehead. "Call me if you need me, Sammy and I are right downstairs."

"Thank you," I said, smiling. He smiled back and grabbed my door handle, pulling the door closed. When it was shut, I spun around to find my sheets extremely messed up, like someone was thrashing around. I panicked, paranoid by what I had seen and heard in Heaven.

"You have nothing to fear," Castiel said, appearing in the corner of my room. "I messed it up."

"Why?" I asked slowly.

"Your story needed to be believable."

I sighed, crawling onto my bed and turning to face Castiel before sitting down.

"Thank you, Castiel. For everything."

"What did I do? Joshua didn't help very much."

"No, but you did. You protected me in Heaven, and you're protecting me, and the people I care about, here. Thank you. For... everything." I said again.

A small smile appeared on his lips. "Of course."

The next morning, I woke up to the smell of bacon, eggs, waffles, and coffee. I rolled out of bed and found my slippers before trudging downstairs.

"There she is," Dean smiled as I came into the kitchen. Luke and Mason sat on stools at the breakfast bar, and Sam stood behind Dean, buttering toast.

"What's all this?" I asked sleepily.

"Well, you didn't feel well, and we decided to try to help you out." Sam smiled at me, putting more toast in our toaster.

"Coffee?" Mason asked, standing up to get me a cup.

"I got it." I said, walking to the cabinet we kept our coffee cups in. "Thank you."

He smiled at me, and sat back down next to Luke.

"How are you feeling?" Luke asked me.

"Better, I guess." I lied. Physically, I felt fine, but mentally and emotionally, I was anything but. Who in our group was a threat to us? And how big of a threat were they?

"Are you up to going to the shooting range later?" Sam asked me.

I shook my head. "No, I'd really rather just stay here all day."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine."
