Chapter 14

Bart shoved Tim out the way and was caught in the net. Tim gasped but cried in pain when a spear stabbed his right arm. Bruce and Barry were angry as ever. The Reach was pulling the nets that were caught with mermaids, and including Bart who was having a panic attack and trying to get out.

"Dad!!! Mom!!!" Bart cried out just like when he was a small child again.

"Barry!! They have Bart!!!" Iris screaming with tears falling.

"I won't let this happen again!!!" Barry screamed.

"Dad! Barry!!" Damian said holding his dad trident while Gar held Barry's.

Both the Kings grab their trident and put them together and raising the tridents up. Iris was watching Bart and her people being pulled up into the ship while Selina held Tim close to her. The waters were going crazy, the sky turned dark, there were storms and the waves were becoming big. The Reach pirates were screaming and trying to get away from the Kings wrath but there was nowhere to go. Wally and Dick watch as Bruce and Barry pointed their tridents to the ship and a beam of light went through the ship. The ship started sinking and some of the men died. The nets fell back into the water making the Queens, Wally, and Dick swimming toward the nets. Bruce and Barry did the final blow to the Reach for good and sent them away from the seas toward the kingdom of El Passo where they were the most wanted pirates. Their memories of seeing mermaids were erased forever.

~Night Time~

Bart was being held in Iris's arms while Barry and Bruce went to make sure some of the Reach men were dead for sure with White fox help. Thankfully no merperson was seriously hurt. Some were gash by the spears but besides that everyone was fine. Jason tail was gonna heal well and leave a nasty scar but Jason didn't care cause he liked the scars. Tim's arm was bandaged up and was now sitting close to Selina, who was brushing his hair back.

"How is he?" Tim whisper to Iris who sighed.

"Okay,...he just...scared right now. This brought back...memories." Iris said sadly.

Tim sighed. He knew Bart got the death of parents gone thanks to White fox but not the memory of him being captured and crying to his parents. Bart was still shaking in Iris' arms that it pained her that she wasn't able to save him quickly. She sighed and held him so close that she didn't want to let him go.

"Don't worry, Iris everything is fine. No one got killed or anything. Everyone is fine, honey." Selina said softly.

"I know..." Iris said kissing Bart's forehead.

~The Next Day~

Things were back to normal. Some mermaids were afraid to go up the shore for a while. Others have gotten over it. Barry smiled softly at Bart seeing he was getting well slowly.

"Are you sure your fine, son?" Barry asked.

"Y-Yeah, I just need rest." Bart smiled softly.

"Are you sure?" Barry asked again.

"Yes, grandpa. Tim and I are just gonna check on the other merfolks." Bart said holding his bag.

"Not without your new Squire you won't," Iris said swimming next to Barry.

"W-What! Grandma, I'm fine!" Bart said looking at Iris in disbelief.

Iris shook her head and raise her hand at Bart. He closed his mouth and watch Iris swim to him and gasp when she hugged him.

"Honey, I'm doing this for your safety...I-I couldn't protect you yesterday. I-I failed you as your guarding and most importantly as you grandma." Iris said wiping her tears away. "Please, I just want you to be safe my love."

Bart wiped away his tears and hug his grandma and nod his head.

"Okay, I will do it. Besides I mostly see you as a mom than my grandma." Bart said smiling softly.

Barry smiled knowing that Bart saw them as his dad and mom but they made sure that Bart never forgot his true parents. Iris smiled and hug Bart one more time and pulled back.

"Okay. Don't worry. This Squire is someone you already know since you were small." Iris said happily.

"Really? Who?" Bart asked confused.

"Did you really forget me, mi sol." Bart turned around and gasp in surprise and felt his eyes get watery again.

"JUAN!!!" Bart screamed in delight and swam toward his old best friend. 

Juan chuckled and caught Bart, who held him so close and buried his face on Juan's neck. Juan had light brown hair but was shave off on the side, he was wearing half armor on his shoulders and belts around his chest that was built, he was tan, and he had a blue and yellowtail. He chuckled and nuzzle his face close to Bart's beautiful brown hair making him chuckle softly.

"W-What are you doing here? I thought you moved away?" Bart said confused.

"I did, but my parents wanted to come back here." Juan said smiling softly.

"Also, he is your new Squire, my love," Iris said putting her hand on Juan's shoulder. "I choose him because he is your childhood best friend. Beside Tim."

Bart smiled brightly and hug his grandma and grab Juan's hand. Iris and Barry chuckled knowing they can trust Juan to protect Bart. They swam to where Tim was waiting and finally caught sight of him.

"TIM LOOK WHO IT IS!!!" Bart screamed making Juan laugh.

"Oh, my god. Is that Juan! Dude I haven't seen you in years. What have you been doing??" Tim said happily.

"Training to be a merknight," Juan said happily.

"I can tell," Tim said tapping Juan's abs and muscles. "Nice built body."

Bart was blushing like crazy and looking away while Juan smiled softly at him. 

"Anyways what are you doing here anyway?" Tim asked his old friend.

"Right. I'm Bart's new Squire now." Juan said proudly making Bart blush once again.

"W-Wait what!?" Tim gasp and looked at Bart, who finally stop blushing and looked at Tim sadly and shrugged his arms. 

'Great now how on earth are we gonna visit White fox, and see Milagro.' Tim thought to himself.

"You two planning to see the sea witch huh." Juan smirk making Tim and Bart gasp. "Come on. I know Bart so well that I can read him like a book. You also are planning to do something aren't you."

"Ummm," Bart said looking at Tim, who looked at him back

Juan chuckled softly and shook his head.

"Don't worry. I promise not to snitch or tell anyone. My job is to protect Bart and whatever Bart wants to do. I just have to follow behind." Juan said with his hand up. "My word."
