The secret life of Tobias's daughter

Chapter 5

        I wake up with my hands gripped to a steel path above the chasm. I have a choice either think like a dauntless or like a divergent. No one is watching so might as well have cheats. I look down towards the chasm and figure my first fear, heights. I look up and think 'What would a divergent do?' I look around and notice that my hands were slipping and that I needed to make a choice. I close my eyes and let go of the rail. Gravity takes my body and slams it down towards the bottom of the chasm. I quickly think about the rope swing that some idiotic dauntless born would swing on and off the rail of the chasm. It appears infront of me and I grab onto it and swing myself towards the steel path, but as soon as I started to swing I heard a rip. I jumped off of the swing and dived into the water, which leads me to my next fear, drowning. I struggle to get to the surface and as soon as I reach air, I feel a tug at my leg. I suck in as much breath as I could as the thing ripped me back under water. I reach for the thing and find a lock strapped to my leg. I panic and I look around trying to find a rock to break the lock, but have no luck. Then I realize that none of this is real. I look at the lock, tap it, and it comes apart. As soon as I feel the lock untwine from my ankle, I swam to the surface for a breather. I knew my fear landsapes like the back of my hand and I instantly knew what fear was next, tight spaces. I needed to swim down to the bottom of the ocean and find the hole in the wall. I did so and found the hole in the rocky wall ahead of me. I swam into it and then all of the water vanished. Then it did what I feared, the walls started to inclose on me. I pushed the walls trying to make it stop, but think that I have to do better than that. I squish my body into a ball and try to get the walls to stop and when the walls are about to hit me, they vanish. Now i'm in a room with a gun at the table. I hear a voice that says 'shoot' I look ahead of me to see my dad. I noticed that my dad had a cast around his hand. I then realized 'That they are trying to trick me from my dream' I quickly grab the gun and point it at his head, but as soon as I put my finger on the trigger, I look away. I then pull the trigger and as the gun shot went off, I look up to see my worst fear of them all, my appearance to others. I look around and noticed that I was in a clear box and that people were staring at me. Then it began. The whispers shredded through the room and in my ears to hurtful things. 'Look at her, she is so ugly' 'Look she looks scared, never knew that Tobias's daughter could be afraid' 'Tobias should be ashamed' 'Your training sucks!' 'She should've been in the death serum room instead of her mother, her mother would have been here today...' 'KILL YOURSELF' The things ripped me apart but I knew this wasn't all. My dad and mother came infront of me and said 'You are a disapointment' I then knew what to do I had my mp3 with me and my headphones. I plugged in my headphones and put some music in. Just loud enough to where I couldn't hear anyone. Then as everyone gave up, the glass broke around me. This hasn't happened before. The glass walls shattered around me and the mob of people started to run after me chanting mean and hurtful things. I knew what I had to do. I crouched down into a ball and screamed 'STOP!!' and then the fear landscape ended.

        I woke up to my dads face. He turns around "That is how the fear simulations work. I will be right back I have to talk to 5 for a second." He helps me off the chair and brings me to the simulation room. When the door closes, he hugs me. "Thank you krissky." I was shaking from the simulations still. "Your welcome dad." He turns to me and says "You keep making decisions through out the simulation. First, you acted divergent. Next, you acted dauntless. Third, you acted dauntless. Fourth, you acted dauntless. Then last, you acted divergent. Choose one thing during simulations, or it will destroy you." He says. "I-I-I just didn't expect that last one." I say while looking at the ground. "Krissky, the fear landscape can change based on what you choose to happen. Like I said, choose one thing to do at a time ok?" I look at him and say "Yes dad." "Alright, you have training tonight, so might as well get there before everyone else does..." He says with a smile. "Yea I will thanks dad again." I say. He turns and says "No problem ju-just be brave Krissky." And with that I turn and run out the door and through the next door down the hall into the training room where the schedule was still at, where I was before, and where now Alex, was standing.
