The secret life of Tobias's daughter

Chapter 12

        I wake up in the hospital. My head hurts and so does my stomach. My vision is a bit blurry and all I can see is my dad leaning up against a wall. I try to sit up, but quickly lay down again. "What are you doing in here Tobias?" He starts walking toward me. "Well, I came in here to check on you. Do you remember anything that happened?" I shake my head and say "No what happened?" It looks like he is trying to think of something and shakes his head and says "well someone rigged your cake with a drug that could kill you if you ate too much but, luckily you were allergic to it and blacked out before you could eat any more." He looks down at the floor and shakes his head. I close my eyes thinking about what I just heard. I faintly remember eating the cake but, don't remember anything beyond that until I just woke up. "How long have I been sleeping?" I ask looking at my dad. "surprisingly, half of the night. It's 4:30 AM right now. You were taken here at 8:19." "When can I leave? I need to train my initiates." I say a little more sternly than I meant it to be. Tobias cocked his eyebrow up and said "well, in the morning you should be better the doctor said but, we know how good the doctor is." We both laugh. The doctor is terrible. I lean up slowly with my dad watching. The pain strikes through me like a lightning bolt but, I'm so used to it. "Can you help me up please?" I ask with my legs already hanging off the side of the hospital bed. My dad shakes his head but, walked over and takes my hand and helps me up. I start to feel dizzy but, push it to the side and walk a couple of steps. It feels like the simulations but, I know it isn't by how sick I feel. I puke in the nearby trash can and relief floods through my body. Tobias flinched but, soon helped me gain balance again. I soon here a yell from outside. I limp over to see Alex laying on the floor. I can't here my scream but know I am when I fall to the floor with tears on my face.
