Amelia's POV
"Go,Luuuke!" I screamed from the bleachers. Standing in anticipation, my hands were folded in front of my nose. My arms shot up in the air.
"Gooooaaaal!" The crowed cheered in unison.
With two minutes left in the game, there was no way the other team would score to tie things up. I sat back down as I watched my boyfriend run down the field. The game ended 2-1, Luke's team winning. I joined the crowd in cheering and applause as the boys lifted their conference champions trophy.
Once everything was settled down, I went down to the field to find Luke. Being that Luke lived forty minutes away and went to a different school, we didn't see each other on a daily basis. "I missed you!" I lipped as he waved on his way to the locker room.
"Amelia?" I heard a voice say through the group of people. I turned to find the voice, but the voice had already found me. Luke Hemmings.
"Luke, hi." I said, shocked. I suppose I had known we were playing Luke's school, but I figured he'd be off playing a gig somewhere.
"Hi." He said, his face flushed. "I've been thinking about you, actually. I was gonna message you or something. I---"
My boyfriend came up and grabbed my waist while he kissed my cheek. "Great game, baby." I kissed him back, still preoccupied with the other Luke's presence.
I noticed my Luke eyeing Luke Hemmings and internally cringed. My boyfriend and the boy I was hung up on for two years were standing three feet away from each other, and I was going to have to introduce them. "Uh, Luke... this is Luke. We met at a camp like three years ago."
"Two years ago..." Luke mumbled.
"Ah, nice name." My Luke stuck out his hand to shake Luke Hemmings'.
"Great game, by the way." Luke H said to my Luke.
"Yeah, you too." Luke turned toward me. "Curfew isn't until 11:00 if you want to go do something?"
"Yeah, that'd be great." I smiled, feeling awkward with both boys.
"Alright. We're having one last meeting before we're released, so I'll meet you back here in like ten minutes." Luke walked off with his buddies as I stood their with Luke Hemmings.
"So, how've you been?" Luke asked, breaking the silence.
I sighed. "That's such a general question." I said, slightly annoyed that he's being so receptive of my two years too late. "But, I guess I've been okay."
"Just okay?" He asked, his voice wincing.
I nodded solemnly. To be honest, I've had a pretty rough couple of years.
"How about you?" I asked, trying to help the conversation.
"Such a general question..." He teased. "Yeah, I've been okay."
I smiled at his efforts; he was exactly everything I thought he was, and that wasn't a bad thing. For him.
Luke checked his phone, and his faced drooped slightly. "I... We have to go as well..." He swallowed. "It was really nice to see you. How long will you be in town?"
"Well, I'm staying with my grandma for the week." I said, nervously, though, I don't know why.
"I'd like to catch up, if you have time-- no general questions though. We'll be here tomorrow and then leaving the next morning." He bit his lips as he forced himself to make eye contact with me.
"As long as you promise there will be no general questions, then I suppose we could do something." I couldn't find it in me to meet his gaze.
"Promise." He smiled. Someone called his name in the distance, beckoning for him to join his team. "Uh, can I have your number so I can call you?"
