Amelia's POV

I left the next day after breakfast and getting manicures and pedicures with my grandma. As I drove home, a few words she had said before I left still resonated in my mind. "That boy from the Target store seems like nice company."

I drove for a while, pushing the thoughts of this weekend's happenings away. When I could no longer bear it, I called my friend, Jess.

"Hi, why are you calling me?" She asked confused. I'm not big on calling people because I have a poor relationships with live conversations.

"Nice to hear from you too." I replied sarcastically.

Jess laughed from the other end of the line. "So what's up?"

I sighed before contemplating which piece of the story to tell first. Niether were fantastic news. "Luke and I broke up." I muttered.

"I'm sorry... you broke up?" I could hear the perplexion in her voice.

"Yeah, well he cheated on me with some slut from another school because I don't put out." I'm not over it, but I'm putting up a good front.

"Oh, sweetie. I'm sorry. I know he had a rep, but that was before you." The comfort in her tone was encouraging.

"Yeah, he basically said the only reason we started dating was cus he wanted to sex me up. But then he admitted that he fell for me so..." I sighed. "Why must I have such an odd effect on guys?" I laughed and she joined in.

"Where are you right now? We should do something.

"I'm still like an hour and a half away from home. I have more to tell you though."

"I'm listening."

"I saw Luke this weekend, and we kinda hung out."

There was silence on the other end, and I realized I had forgotten to specify. "Hemmings. I saw Luke Hemmings."

She gasped so loudly I thought her lungs would implode. "Luke Hemmings?! Like the Luke Hemmings? And you hung out?!" She was nearly screaming.

Jess goes to camp with me, and she was there when we all met Luke for the first time. She's been there through all the "I love him, and we're going to get married." with me.

"Yeah. We got coffee and walked through a park." I said quietly. "Oh, and get this... He approached me, and said he wanted to see me again after I had left."

"Amelia... this isn't like all the other times when you were all worked up because he retweeted something about love, right?"

"No, I'm totally over him." I blew it off. Truth is, I've been telling everyone in my life that I've been over him for over a year when I really only got over him when I started dating Luke.

"Yeah, okay. So what else happened?"

My phone buzzed, and I pulled it away from my ear for a quick glance. "Uh, so my phone is dying and my mom is trying to call so I'll just fill you in later. Meet me at my house in like an hour."

She let out an annoyed breath. "Fine, but I want to hear everything."

"You will; I promise. Good bye." I sang.

"Byyye." She sang back.

I answered my mom's call and filled her in on my whereabouts; my phone died before the conversation ended. I drove the rest of the way home with nothing but the sounds of the tires rolling against asphalt and my music.
