Luke's POV

It's been a week and a half since Amelia and I had our conversation at the park, and we've hung out nearly every day this week. The day she came over for a soundcheck, I let her strum around my new guitar and helped her place her fingers on the chords. That was probably my favorite moment because we were so close, and we were sharing music together in an intimate way. I'm excited for tomorrow, Saturday, because I have a big surprise for her.

"Hey, so I'm going to pick you up around 5:00 tomorrow." I called Amelia on the phone. She told me that she hates talking on the phone, but she feels comfortable with me and it's one of her favorite things. My stomach felt warm as the words left her mouth.

"I hate surprises." She mumbled.

"Oh, shut up. You'll like this one. I promise." I teased, smiling ear to ear knowing she couldn't see me.

"I'm sure I will..." She admitted. "What should I wear?"

"Dressy. Like, dressier than a choir concert for school."

"Where are you taking me?" Excitement and anxiety filled her voice to create and adorable tone that I could only imagine the expression it was paired with.

"You'll see."

She sighed hard. "You're annoying."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna go now. Goodnight, Amelia." I said sweetly.

"Night, Lucas." She spoke softly and stayed on the line until we mutually hung up.

----------

It's 4:30, and I'm rushing to find my belt. "Moooooooom!" I called frantically down the stairs.

"What? Are you okay?" She rushed up in a worry.

"I'm fine, I just-- have you seen my black belt?" I whipped my head around my bedroom searching the floor for the metal buckle.

She pursed her lips and looked up at me. "The belt you said you never wore so I gave it away?"

My face dropped as my eyes pleaded apologetically.

"I'll go get one of your brothers'."

"Thank you!" I smiled immediately and resumed finishing my hair.

My mom handed me the belt as I was on my way out the door. "I'll text you when the event ends."

"Have fun! I love you!" She ushered me off.

"Love you too." I called out, quickly getting in the car and rushing out.

I pulled up to Amelia's house and knocked on her door. I was greeted by her mother.

"You must be Luke." She welcomed me in and introduced herself.

"Yes, hello." I nodded my head awkwardly.

"Amelia won't tell me what you're doing tonight." Typical moms nosying for information.

"That's because she doesn't know. Is she in hearing distance?" I looked around but saw no sign of her.

"No, she's still upstairs." Her mom hushed excitedly.

"I'm taking her to see an orchestra at the Sydney Opera House. I've never been, and I figured she never had either so why not go together." I started playing with my lipring, nervous about what her mom will think.

She was speechless for a moment before she clapped her hands together and a smile spread across her face. "That is so romantic; she's going to love it!" She laid a reassuring hand on my upper arm.
