The front door opened and in walked my parents. My dad went from shocked, to happy, to mad in three seconds. Uh-oh, fun’s over. My mom ran in and ripped me from Cam’s arms. She hugged me so hard I thought all the air had been pushed out of my hair.

It took an hour for my parents to get past the shocked and happy phase of “you’re back”. Then came the angry phase. We sat down and talked about it. My mom cried twice, and dad did most of the talking. In the end they were just glad I was home. Then there was silence for about five minutes, and then the awkwardness came up. They knew we mated last night. And dad noticed the abundance of hickeys on Cam’s neck. He looked a little embarrassed and I snickered to myself about that. He gave me a quick dirty look but turned away.

Later Cam had to leave. He had alpha stuff to do. I pouted at that but I let him go. That night I was in my bedroom lying down trying not to think of Cam. But everything smelt of him. So I decided to text Nia. She was glad to hear from me and we talked until two in the morning. Man I missed her.

The next few days were boring. I only got to see Cam a little and I didn’t like it. This was another reason being mated to the alpha was frustrating. They had to do a lot for the pack. Cam knew I was getting irritated so he told me he had a surprise for me over the weekend. By Saturday I was so anxious to know what it was, I felt like I was dying. Not really but I hate when I know about surprises. Not knowing drives me crazy.

Saturday morning Cam woke me up and I was so happy to see him I pulled him into bed with me. That led to some heavy making out and a little bit of grinding but nothing more. Once I ate we were in the car and headed away from my house. Cam smiled the whole way, but I was freaking out. I really wanted to know.

It was a long drive. We came to woods. Cam got out and he sniffed the air. I got out and went over to him. “What are we doing here?” I asked.

Cam smiled. “Your surprise is in the woods.”

“Ugh” I groaned. “Please just tell me. I’m dying here.”

Cam grabbed my hand and started leading me into the woods. “Come on, it’s just a little further.”

I whined and said “Cam!” He laughed but didn’t say anything more. So we walked. He led me through the woods. I didn’t know where we were but I knew we weren’t on his packs territory. These woods had no pack’s scent. “Where are we going?” I begged.

Cam went behind me and put his hand over my eyes. Then he plugged my nose. “We’re almost there.”

Cam guided me through the tree and told me about to fallen branches to step over or around. I was blind, completely cut off from my senses. Without my eyes and smell I truly was blind. For wolves, if we can’t see we can usually get around fine if we can smell. I had never felt so vulnerable.

Then Cam made me stop. I was getting anxious by the second to see my surprise. Then his hands were gone. I opened my eyes. Excitement rushed up my system, pumping up my heart beat. I jumped like a giddy girl. Which I technically was, but…who’s keep track of all my silly moments.

There was a clearing in these woods and set up was a picnic. There was food and what looked like balls to play with. But what really got me excited was the girl that was sitting there. Nia sat there. She hopped up and we ran to each other. We hugged and looked like some best friends that had separated for years and were finally getting back together. I pulled back and Nia had a big smile for me. This was a great surprise. I was about to say something when I noticed Nate walking out from the trees. I smiled at him and he gave me a tense one. I looked back to Cam and he had a very tense look on his face. Ugh, boys!

I looked back to Nia. “It’s so good to see you.”

“I know. I missed you so much when you left.”
