“Hey are you okay?” asked a little voice. My eyes slowly opened. Standing next to me was a girl. She looked about my height with tan skin. She had long black hair and bright green eyes. She looked so exotic but yet small and fragile at the same time.

I nodded my wolf head. I saw movement and I then noticed that there was a guy with her. He was taller than her with blonde hair. He was looking at me with sharp eyes. He was ready to attack. Crap, they caught me on their territory. I sniffed and I could tell they were a part of the pack, but he wasn’t the alpha. The girl had a lot of power in her, maybe she is the alpha female.

“Get out of here” the guy snarled. I cowered against the ground. I couldn’t fight them. Not the alpha female, if I did anything to her I would have an alpha after me and I didn’t need more than one I already had after me.

The girl spun around and slapped the guy on his arm. He yelped and rubbed his arm. “Be nice Cameron. She may need help.” She turned back to me and her green eyes were caring. “Could you please shift to your human form so Cameron calms down and we can talk. I looked at them, and debated over it. If I shifted I would be even more open for attack. I wasn’t as strong and my senses weren’t as aware when I was human. “I promise no one will hurt you.” Her voice seemed so sincere and I almost believed her.

I debated about it a little longer and decided it would be best if I did. If they attacked even now I couldn’t take the two, especially if she really is alpha female. I shifted back. Once I was human I covered myself and looked at the girl. She smiled at me and shrugged off her shirt. Now she just wore a tank top.

“Here” she said handing me her shirt. I mumbled my thanks and put on her shirt. It smelled of male. That must be her mate. I looked up and sure enough I saw the mark of a bite on her neck. “Cameron, go away.” He looked at her shocked.

“Nia, she’s a rogue. She could hurt you.”

“She’s not going to hurt me” she said confidently. She looked at me the whole time. “Are you?” I shook my head. I was not taking on the alpha female. “See, I’m fine. Go on Cameron, I’ll be back soon.” The boy, Cameron gave me a hard look and then hesitantly walked off.

“I’m sorry about him. He’s just being a good beta.” I looked back at her…Nia. “What’s your name?” she asked.

“Why should I tell you?”

She tilt her head to the side. “What a funny name.” I pouted at her and tried not to smile. We stared at each other. I was trying not to laugh the whole time. She just smiled at me sweetly like she knew I wanted to laugh, and was waiting for me to give in. I finally couldn’t hold the blank expression on my face and I giggled.

“I knew you wanted to laugh.” I looked away as I tried to pull back my giggles. This was no time for giggles. “Really though, what’s your name?”

“Kasha.”

She smiled at me just as sweetly as she had before. “If you didn’t catch it before, I’m Nia. And I’m sure you know you’re on our territory. Can I ask why?”

“I’m traveling through. I was running for a while and I just needed a place to rest. I’ll leave right now.” I got up.

“Oh no, you don’t have to.” I looked at her shocked. I was an intruder on her pack’s land, she should want me off as soon as possible. “Listen, you look really tired and should get some rest. I don’t anyone else from the pack to find you like this so why don’t you come back to me and my mate’s house. You can take a rest and then if you want you can leave.”

I looked at her skeptical. “You can’t be serious.” Nia raised an eyebrow at me as if asking ‘No?’ “I’m a trespasser on your land. You’re the alpha female. You should be pissed that I’m here, not offering me a room.”
