The Forgotten Diamond

Shattered Inside

After the incident with Jasper, Turquoise started becoming more and more quiet. She would often sit on the beach and look at the waves for hours on end and no one could move her. She kept on blaming herself ignoring the great advice she had given Steven.

"Come on Turquoise", steven said trying to coax her into the house, "You made a mistake everybody makes mistakes". "But I've ruined so many lives", she said burying her face in her hands, "Maybe Pearl should've shattered me after all". "But you're sorry you did that's what matters", he said pleadingly. "I made corruption", she said turning away from him, "That mistake is far too terrible". "You know what Turquoise", Steven said angrily, "I should've left you in that chest". "Maybe you're right", she said turning to the sea. "Steven", Garnet interrupted before he said something in anger, "Maybe I should try to talk to her". "Knock yourself out", he said before going into the temple. "Turquoise sometimes you do things you regret", she started, "But like you said you've to learn from your mistakes and get back up again". "But I've ruined gems", she said, "I've even ruined the life of a gem I cared most about not like she knew I cared anyway". "Are you talking about Jasper", Garnet asked, "How do you even know her". "You know that the Beta Kingdargarten was made because of desperation", she answered, "I was told to oversee the emergence of the gems to make sure Rose couldn't get to them". "They didn't exactly emerge like you would expect", she continued, "Jasper was the only one that emerged properly, she was the perfect soldier". "In fact she was in Pink's court", Turquoise said, "And mine and Pink's court were usually at the same place so we mingled a lot". "I have admired her for a long time", she said, "But letting her know that I cared for more than just an asset in war was like blasphemy to the Diamonds". "So kept it secret", she finished, "And now once she finds out my contribution to what happened to her I can forget about her befriending me". "You'll never know if you don't try", Garnet said putting her hand on the diamond's shoulder. "But I don't even know how to cure it", she said removing Garnet's hand, "I don't even know where to start". "You know Steven was able to make progress with a corrupted gem", Garnet said, "Maybe Jasper just needs familiarity". "I'll think about it", she finally said. "That's all I ask", Garnet said before going back inside. "Maybe familiarity is what she needs", she said to herself.
