The Forgotten Diamond

A lesson in the Art of Flight

"Lapis we've got something to ask you", Steven shouted as he pulled Turquoise towards the barn. "Steven I don't think its necessary", Turquoise said trying to pull her hand away, "Their gone probably won't come back". "Lapis, Peridot", he continued shouting completely ignoring what she said. "Steven I said..", she started. "Turquoise we both know that's not true", he said reminding her that he's not a child even if he looked two years younger than he really was. Lapis and Peridot finally came out looking like they just woke up. "Oh hey Steven, Turquoise", Peridot greeted drowsily, "What're you doing here". "We need Lapis to help us with something", Steven asked, "Why are you soo tired". "We were watching TV", Lapis answered, "What do you need  me for". "Well", Turquoise started but was quickly cut off by Steven's voice, "Turquoise has wings but doesn't know how to use them". Lapis and Peridot looked stunned. "I'm sorry could you repeat that", Peridot asked now fully awake. "I have wings", Turquoise answered before Steven could, "And I need your help".

They were on the beach with Connie, Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet and Peridot watching as Lapis was teaching Turquoise. She had managed to make them appear but getting them to actually lift her of the ground was difficult. She finally got up but it was fleeting. "Ugh let's just stop", she said after falling down for the third time. "Oh don't be a sourpuss", Lapis said giggling, "How will you learn if you don't continue trying". "Fine", she said  clearly annoyed. After getting the gang of that she had to learn how to navigate inntge air and she kept on landing in the sea. But she finally got the gang of it. Her her was and wings were wet making them sparkle like a diamond. She sat down beside Steven, "Do you think we'll ever find a cure for corruption". "I think so", he answered, "Everything has a cure". At that moment she was so relaxed no one would guess she had once been a monarch of homeworld. Her eyes closed and she thought of everything she'd don, she was finally free. "Turquoise", Steven said in a worried voice, her eyes fluttered open and she was surrounded by forget-me-nots. "Wha-What is going on", she said getting up in alarm. "Maybe its just me but being unbubbled seems to be giving you new powers", Pearl said in astonishment, "Perhaps Rose knew what would happen". Maybe she did.
