Chapter Nineteen

Revelations

Present:

     "You're what?!" Hidan yelled as I sighed softly at having to repeat it again. I squeezed Itachi's hand lightly.
     "I'm pregnant." I repeated for the umpteenth time.
     Everyone was stunned and couldn't really say anything, I scratched the back of my head and chuckled nervously.
     "I see. Congratulations, Y/N, Itachi." Sasori bowed to us a little and left quietly, much to the dismay of Deidara.
     "S-Sasori, my man! Wait up for me, hm! Congratulations, Y/N, Itachi, tsk." Deidara stuttered as he left with Sasori.
     "Wow, kiddo. Wait, guess I can't call you that no more, can I? Congrats! I know you both'll do just fine." Kisame stood and patted us both on the back before snickering and leaving quietly.
     "How very interesting. Congrats, you two." Zetsu muttered before seeping into the ground.
     "Hopefully this child does not consume too much money." Kakuzu whispered to himself as he then looked at us. "Congrats." He said monotonously before leaving.
     "Congratulations, Y/N-chan, Itachi-senpai!" Tobi screamed before jumping on both of us for a very tight hug. I merely nodded and Itachi did the same. Tobi left after that.
     "I can't fucking believe this, my best friend is fucking pregnant. What the hell?" Hidan thought to himself out loud as he began walking away with a confused expression.
     "Congratulations, Y/N, Itachi. I do expect this not to hurt our plans?" Pain asked as we both shook our heads. "Y/N, you will be excused from missions until you have conceived the child." Pain told us before walking away.
     "Congratulations." Konan bowed before dissolving into paper and floating away in Pain's direction.
After a little while of silence, I sighed in relief and leaned onto Itachi. "I'm glad everyone took it well." I felt him nod and I hugged him loosely, he patted my head and gave me a small smile.
Later on that day, Itachi and I decided to have another day to ourselves and take a walk somewhere nice. Surprisingly, the place we were looking for was almost right next to the base! We both assumed the area belonged to Zetsu and we were right. After asking permission to walk upon his ground, he granted us the honor and we left on our little quest happily.
"I wonder how I'm going to look like when I'm nine months." I pondered aloud as I traced my thumb over Itachi's lightly, I smiled happily and each step I took had a slight skip to it.
"You'll look as beautiful as ever, Y/N." Itachi stated as he led me to a grassy area under a blossoming cherry blossom tree. I hummed cheerfully as we both sat down.
Itachi pulled me against him as he rested against the trunk of a tree, his arms loosely hung around my waist as I leaned my head into the crook of his neck. He kissed my temple and soothingly rubbed circles around my stomach.
"Imagine how they'll be like when they grow up, Itachi. I bet they're going to look exactly like you! Or at least, that's what I hope."
"I beg to differ, I hope they look just like their beautiful mother." Itachi mumbled against me as he nuzzled into my neck lovingly.
Zetsu seeped up through the ground and looked at us nonchalantly. "You've been summoned, hurry, Itachi." He said monotonously before seeping back down into the ground.
I groaned loudly and Itachi chuckled. "Let's go, love." He grabbed my hand and we left to Pain's office, but not before he dropped me off at our room.
After waiting in our room for a couple minutes, the boredom got to me and I hopped out of bed. I was determined to socialize and that's what I did, for hours.
I gambled with Kakuzu for a couple hours and after winning many times, I decided to have mercy on him and quit playing. After that, I chatted with Hidan about challenges we were going to do after I had my child. Hidan left half an hour later, and so I decided to draw a bit with Deidara.
My eyes lit up as Deidara molded his clay into the figures I had drawn and blew them up, it kind of reminded me of fireworks. Deidara went to go restock on clay so I left to find his art twin, Sasori, who was improving one of his puppets hastily.
I talked to him for a while about carving and woodwork, to which he responded quite enthusiastically for being an emotionless puppet. I watched him improve his puppet Hiruko and occasionally, I would comment on ideas such as adding lots of poisonous gas inside tubes and creating a better defense on top of the puppet itself, like a mask.
Sasori finished his improvement on Hiruko and I left, finding nothing else to do there. My next destination was Kisame, who was situated in the swimming pool I didn't even know we had.
After training to hold my breath for longer periods of time, I found myself tired and decided to call it a night. I didn't want to bother Zetsu or deal with Tobi, and I sure as hell didn't want to disturb Pain or Konan. Itachi was out of the question because I had no absolute idea of where he was.
I showered and crashed onto my bed happily after changing quickly. There was a problem, though, I felt something soft under my fingertips and opened an eye questioningly.
I squealed happily as I found a teddy bear situated next to me in bed. I read the note attached to it aloud and swooned.

Dear Y/N,

It is to my utmost dismay that I tell you I have been sent on a mission. I will return shortly, but don't expect me to return in days. I'll be gone at least a week, unfortunately. Kisame is here with me so don't be surprised that you can't find him. If you're wondering, I asked Sasori to make the bear so please do remember to thank him later for me, yes? I miss you already, my dear. I love you.
