The Path I Follow Is My Own

Past:

I ran and ran, the sun seeming to never let up on my poor back and guess what? I was wearing black! How lovely.
I rolled my eyes at my own comment and continued on my way to the Hidden Leaf. Halfway through, I decided to take off my Akatsuki robe and headband, hiding them under the false bottom in my bag. Sneaky, huh?
Finally arriving to the village, I started to think about my appearance. I look a lot different from when I was thirteen so I didn't have to worry about that, thankfully. It would've sucked if I had to use a disguise or something. Yuck.
I sensed someone behind me and before I could even blink or turn, I was sent crashing into the ground. Luckily, I had good reflexes and landed just before I hit land, I took a kunai and threw it to where the attack came from. That's what I get for not paying attention, dammit.
I sighed heavily and stood straight, not losing or letting my guard down one bit. "Look, let's get straight to the point. Come out, apologize, leave and then I won't do anything to you. I'll leave right after and forget this ever happened, deal?"
I gasped lightly as I grabbed another kunai and grasped it tightly.
"You'll let me go? Ah, you make me laugh, Y/N. You remember me, don't you? You'd hurt my feelings if you didn't." I heard the raspy voice speak and knew who it was right away.
"Orochimaru, what do you want?!" I shouted at him angrily. When Itachi and I joined the Akatsuki at their base, this snake was paired up with him. Soon afterwards, he tried to kill him and lost. A while later, he betrayed us. His appearance describes him perfectly, he's a snake.
"Ah, dear Y/N, I'm most pleased that you remember me. I don't want anything in particular, but I have my eye on the Jinchuriki you want. In order to both disrupt your plan and complete my own, I need him just as much as the Akatsuki." Orochimaru came out and smiled a sickeningly sweet smile at me, as if he believed that would work. I decided to hit a sore spot.
"You really think I'm scared? If Itachi beat you in barely a minute then damn, I can beat you blindfolded and without an arm. You think you intimidate me? Then damn, look at your makeup and then ask me."
"You have quite a vulgar mouth for quite a young girl, I was right to keep an eye on you." Orochimaru laughed and I shook my head, disgusted. "You'll change right away with this though, let us test it dear Y/N." Orochimaru took out a syringe filled with some sort of substance and I backed up.
In an instance, he had come up behind me and shoved the syringe into my neck. "I-Itachi..." Was the last thing that came out of my mouth before I collapsed, my form hitting the land roughly. I heard Orochimaru laughing as I closed my eyes, disappearing into the strange darkness that beckoned my name.

Some Time Later, Still Past:

I opened my eyes and looked around, my eyes curiously scanning the room around me which was bright. This smell was familiar but I didn't know why.
"How are you feeling, Miss?" I heard a small girl asked, I looked over. A girl was pink hair and bright green eyes smiled at me as she looked at her clipboard and back at me.
"I feel fine, where am I?" I asked quietly as I looked away, a sudden shyness seeping from within me.
"You're in the Hidden Leaf's hospital, my name's Sakura. I'll go get Tsunade now, I'll be back." She left after I nodded.
I looked through the window with a sigh, why was I in their hospital? Why did I get here? For what reason? I had so many questions and hopefully this Tsunade lady could help me.
"Hello, Tsunade's the name and I'm the head healer here. Are you experiencing pain? Do you know your name?"
"Y-Yeah, my name is..." I paused, trying my hardest to remember until it clicked. "Y/N, my name is Y/N and no, I feel fine, thanks." I couldn't put my finger on it but the word pain seemed familiar. How weird.
"Hm, that name seems familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Oh well, since you're doing good you can leave. Sakura, let's go."
Tsunade left along with Sakura and I figured Sakura was training to be a medical ninja. For some reason, I felt my head tingle. That also seemed familiar so I tried following my instincts and letting them do whatever.
My hands formed signs I didn't recall and soon enough, my hands started to take a faint green glow that gradually began increasing. I knew medical ninjutsu? What the hell...?
I quit letting my instincts do whatever and the green glow faded, I decided to get my stuff and change. I looked for the bag I felt was my own and left soon after.
As I walked the streets of the Hidden Leaf, a greater sense of familiarity started to take over and it felt insanely nostalgic. How weird.
I walked even more and my feet seems to move on their own, leading me to a place I didn't recall seeing before.
I walked inside and the smell of ramen filled my nose, I sat down on a seat next to a blonde little boy with an orange and blue jumpsuit. "What an odd sense of clothing choice." I began thinking with a small smile.
I felt like he would be important in my journey, if I could call it that. If my gut said so then surely I was right, right? Ugh, too much wordplay.
"Hey, what's your name little one?" I asked politely as he finished his second bowl while I've been here. He slammed his bowl down and turned to look at me.
"My name's Naruto Uzumaki and I'm gonna become Hokage one day! Believe it, lady!" This Naruto kid shouted as he gave me closed eye smile with a thumbs up.
"Oh I believe it all right! I assume the Hokage is the leader?"
"Yup! A+ for you, lady! Well, I gotta fly! Maybe today Sakura'll let me treat her to some homemade ramen tonight... Seeya!" Naruto rushed out as I laughed at his little comment.
"Welcome to Ichiraku ramen, so what'll it be today?" The man who was cooking politely asked, I kind of felt embarrassed. I was broke!
"W-Well, y-you see... I don't have enough money to buy anything. For some reason, I forgot to put money in my bag. I'm sorry." I apologized and got up, ready to leave.
"No, no! Sit, sit, this time it'll be on the house." I thanked him vigorously and ordered the ramen, eating slowly and chatting occasionally with the man. I heard someone come in.
"Hey, do you know if Naruto passed though here?"
"What a dobe. Kakashi-sensei, can't we just ditch him?"
"No, Sasuke, we can't ditch him. Remember, he's your teammate."
     "Yeah, yeah."
I tried not to laugh at their little banter. It reminded me of someone I used to do that with. They looked at me and then the little black haired boy blushed? He looked away as soon as I looked at him. The silver haired teacher's eyes widened a bit and then he looked away too, weird.
I bid farewell to the polite man and left with my stuff, searching for a place to spend the night.
"Looking for somewhere to stay? I can lend you my place if you need it." I heard someone ask as I turned around, it was Kakashi.
"Really? How nice! Do know if you try anything, I won't hesitate to attack you. Lead the way!" I said happily as I smiled at him. I think he smiled back and we walked to his place but I couldn't help but worry about everything. "Just who am I?"
